From helping to create the garden, to adding my own individual plant, I feel that our 7th Grade Garden has definitely gone somewhere.
     For example, the process of creating the garden involved contributions very basic and earthly for the garden was originally empty. However, by the end of the first semester, the tower gardens were running, and we were able to harvest various herbs and lettuce. The soil was also in a healthy state as well. What I did to help contribute to the garden when we were originally creating it was to help test the pH, turn the soil, harvest lettuce, and count how many empty spots were left in the tower gardens.
     However, once the second semester came, we got to add a twist in the garden by growing plants of our choice. The plant that I choose, peppermint, was a plant that I feel really represented my personality which is lovable yet quirky. Currently, my plant continues to grow and spread. Not only can it be used to benefit us humans, it can also be innovative by helping the environment in ways which we have never noticed.
     For example, one of our biggest problems in the world is unbalanced sustainability with resources. What we humans tend to do is to take too many or too little resources, therefore, unbalancing our ecosystem. An example of unbalanced sustainability is shopping for produce. When we are in a grocery store, we see so many fruits and vegetables at our grasp and we tend to take too many of them. This results in farmers having to cultivate more produce faster because grocery stores have to supply more produce the next day. Therefore, farmers may have to spray various pesticides on the produce so that the growth of the produce be a lot more faster and undisturbed. Despite the fact that we humans now have more food, the ecosystem around the plant gets broken. Insects would die and the food chain would start to collapse. However, a tower garden would immediately resolve this issue because there are only a certain amount of resources that can be planted in the tower garden pods. This means that there is only a certain amount of resources that can be harvested for us allowing the ecosystem to stay sustained.
     Additionally, tower gardens can even help resolve global warming which is when the temperature of the atmosphere is increasing. What tower gardens can do to help stop global warming is to reduce the commute for food. This basically means that we wouldn't have to drive to the grocery store anymore to get food. The tower garden would cultivate food for us, which would change our car usage, therefore lowering our carbon footprint, which can eventually stop global warming and reduce climate change.
It is relevant that our environment is in need of help at times and the tower garden can help the environment when its in need for it minimizes the common mistakes that we humans make.
