With the development of computer science and technology, artificial intelligence(AI) technology is becoming more and more advanced and modern. AI has eliminated a lot of troubles in people’s lives and helping to increase the efficiency and automation of human activities and work. It is undeniable that AI has indeed make human life simpler but at the same time AI also has its inevitable disadvantages.

First of all, do you know how does AI help to improve the quality of ours life? Voice assistants are the closest AI to humans because almost everyone in this world have a smartphone and holding it whole day. Siri is the voice assistant of iPhone, and Xiaoaitongxue is a built-in personal AI assistant for all Xiaomi product. Nowadays, when people are busy at work and have no time to spare, they can get quick help just by calling the name of the voice assistant, such as calling ‘Hey, Siri’. This means that it only takes a second for the AI voice assistant to help them complete tasks, such as making calls, ask for the time and even looking for information. Thus, AI helps people to save time and costs and makes their lives more convenient. In addition, AI also plays a role in education. This is because the emergence of some AI software that can help students to research and learning when they face problems. For instance, ChatGPT, a language model developed by OpenAI in June2020. This AI has the ability to answer questions and imitate human communication, and can even conversations with people. Thus, many students and teachers will use it to find some needed information since it’s faster and more convenient.

Whereas, although AI provides people with many benefits, it also has many hidden dangers and disadvantages. Can you imagine the lower limit of how lazy a person can be? AI has caused people to rely too much on it, people starting lazy to handle their things, works by themselves. With voice assistants, some people no longer need to set alarm clocks manually, they let AI handle it and this may causes them to gradually forget the concept of time. Besides that, people lose control of themselves and creativity. Try to imagine if a student relies too much on AI, such as ChatGPT to complete assignments, this may result in they not truly get the knowledge, they will fail in the exam or even cause academic misconduct. Not only that, hidden dangers of AI include security ricks, privacy concerns and job displacement risk. Hence, in order to avoid these consequences that may affect the entire society happens, people should use AI appropriately and rational, never completely rely on AI. Only when people can still control and maintain their own lives, AI can continue to be controlled by us. As well as that develop regulations and ethical standards so can ensure that the development of AI is consistent with ethical principles, at the same time can help to improve the quality of human life.

Briefly, AI has advantages and disadvantages for humans life, fact speak louder than words, our lives become easier and more convenient because of AI, but we ‘ve also become lazy. According to Stephen Hawking, AI could make humanity extinct. But He also said that the success of creating AI may be the biggest event in the history of our civilization.

(558 words)

Reference:

Khanzode,K,C,A.

To: Shenandoah

Subject: Culture in Malaysia

Dear Shenandoah,

I hope this email finds you in good spirits. I heard that you’re doing a research about Malaysia culture, so that I will help you to have a general understanding of the local culture here.

First of all, I would like to explain to you about what ‘culture’ is. Culture has been called ‘the way of life for an entire society’, the word culture was first defined by the ancient Roman philosopher Cicero, he using the Latin word ‘cultura animi’ to defines it. Malaysia is a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country, as Malay, Chinese and Indian are the three major races and they still retain their own culture at the same time respect the culture of other races. Muslims will undertake a month-long fasting or known as Ramadan before celebration of Hari Raya, this fasting is important for them because it can be a reminder of them to caring for the poor in order to sympathize and help them. In addition, Chinese will carry lanterns and eat moon cakes with family during the Mid-Autumn Festival because this represents ‘reunion’. Apart from that, Indian will celebrate Deepavali by use colored powders to draw Rangoli and decorative Diya in their house.

Nevertheless, nowadays not everyone is interested in understanding other race’s cultures, this results in relationships between different race is less close and sometimes even will cause misunderstandings. For example, someone may invited his Malay friends to have lunch together during fasting because he don’t understand Malay culture. This may cause the Malay feel disrespected and this is against Islamic teachings, so they might have a fight and drift away from each other. Furthermore, if a Chinese child destroyed a rangoli which decorated in a shopping mall to celebrate Deepavali just because he didn’t understand the Indian culture truly. This behavior may make Indian dissatisfied because their traditional culture is not respected by others. Consequently misunderstandings often arise between people, society is no longer united and harmonious and even lost Malaysia’s unique culture.

Admittedly, if people from different ethnicities lack understanding and comprehension of each other, it will leading to various complex consequences. Thus, It can be concluded that respecting and understand the cultures of other races is crucial in Malaysia due to here is a multiracial country. As well as parents should educate their children from an early age about the culture, habits and taboos of various races to ensure their children understand the most basic principles. Then, teacher and school should consolidate student’s racial knowledge in Moral classes and Islamic classes in order to ensure student can grow up to be citizens who respect all races and understand various cultures. Moreover, government should encourage people to held ‘open days’ during each traditional festival to promote and strengthen culture exchanges. Besides, government or non-governmental organizations can held a cultural exchange activities on National Day, where everyone can put on different traditional costumes to perform traditional dances or make traditional food. Since National Day embraces all ethnic and religions while celebrating Malaysia’s independence on August 31, it’ll also greatly enhance cultural exchanges among different races while raising awareness about each other.

In conclusion, Malaysia’s culture is unique and interesting, as long as all the people are united and respect each other, Malaysian culture will surely be seen by the world. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely yours,

Kai Jing.

（568 words）

Reference：

Rie Nakamura. (2012).

Kai Jing.
