The benefits outweigh the risks, it is effective, and ultimately life saving. During my practice as a RN, I have witnessed many postpartum hemorrhages. They can be very scary, especially for this very vulnerable population. I have had patients that were not able to receive certain medications or the medications not be effective. The Jada System brings a new outlook on treatment for postpartum hemorrhage. Treatment includes medications, supportive care, balloon tamponade, and in some cases, a hysterectomy. Although medications are readily available and effective, some have contraindications such as asthma and hypertension. These common conditions limit the usage of certain medications available to patients. This limitation has engineered a search for a mechanical intervention to treat postpartum hemorrhage. The Jada System is a device that is placed into the uterus and with gentle suction, causes the uterus to clamp down. The clamping down of the uterus is what controls the active bleeding coming from the exposed blood vessels. The Jada system is efficient and easy. It is stabilized with a cervical balloon. The suction is controlled by the user, therefore, allowing for control over the amount of suction being used. The Jada system is rapid and a definitive method used to treat postpartum hemorrhage.
