There are data collection sheets that the paraprofessionals use when working with that student. As a teacher I post specific objectives to collect data on for that week. That way the paraprofessionals know what each student should be working on that week and I am able to then look in a student's binder to see their progress. In the resource program I do not have paraprofessionals to support this so I have the data collection sheets on a clipboard with me and group the goals and objectives together by the specific students I am working with a certain day. Since I do not see each student every day it can make things more complicated. Paper and pen work well for me when I am documenting a specific goal for just one student. On that sheet I like to include the interpretation of the goal collection so that anyone could document progress. I also like to collect data frequently so that you have more consistent data even when the student has an off day. I tend to feel like I don't have enough time to collect data. I have used Google Forms to collect data from General Ed teachers, and that has been helpful. Also, picking the way in which the data should be collected can be a difficult decision. However, I understand that it is extremely important. The hard evidence from the data can either support what you think is true, or sometimes it makes you realize that you were completely wrong. When I was a paraprofessional, I did a lot of data collection for each period on the students in my classroom. One thing that is hard is each teacher/school has different ways of collecting data. Now that I am a teacher, I do very little of the documentation of the behaviors but I do probes weekly on the students reading. Data collection from my staff and myself is what I bring to the IEP meetings to propose goals and objectives. For my data collection on my assignment I plan on doing what I am already doing and what the school has in placed. Luckily my co-worker and mentor for this class has some data collections forms and suggestion. However, I just a resource teacher So I really don’t collect data like that anymore. I push in classes to help my students with their work but other then that not really. When I was collecting data it would have been on the behavior sheet.
