         <description><![CDATA[<p>Megan has gained almost 20 years of experience in Physiotherapy, having worked both publicly and privately in Ireland, the UK and Australia. She specialises in pelvic health dysfunction for both female and male patients presenting with a range of urological, gynaecological, gastrointestinal and sexual dysfunction at the Galway Clinic.</p><p>Megan completed a BSc in Physiotherapy in 2007 at University College Dublin (UCD) and a Post-Graduate Accredited Certificate in Women’s Health in 2021 at the University of Bradford, and has additional training in manual therapy for the pelvic floor, in acupuncture and percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation, and is a trained APPI matwork Pilates instructor.&nbsp;She is a member of the ISCP (Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists), is a CORU registered practitioner, and is a member of the Pelvic Health and Continence (CPPHC) clinical interest group with the ISCP.</p><p>Megan feels very fortunate to work in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy and enjoys advocating for patients as awareness and knowledge of Pelvic Health conditions expands and evolves. She firmly believes in the importance of clinical research and education, and leads and participates regularly in research projects at the Galway Clinic in Pelvic Health and Continence.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Tim McCarthy is considered one of Ireland’s most iconic sports figures which resulted in his Hall of Fame induction in 2023 with Basketball Ireland, along with being a successful business person and a hugely recognizable voice at Olympic Games for over 20 years.</p><p>He has held top executive positions such as Managing Director – Retail Direct at Ulster Bank Group, CEO of One Direct, Head of Financial Services of An Post, General Manager of &nbsp;BUPA Ireland and General Manager of <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://Hello.ie">Hello.ie</a>, and currently runs his own business – The McCarthy Consultancy.</p><p>On the sporting front, he is known for being one of Irelands greatest ever players who played in a career that saw him play 103 times for Ireland, along with Captaining the side on 58 occasions and later Coaching the team as well.</p><p>He also had a very successful coaching career in basketball and GAA, where he won numerous national and county titles in both codes.</p><p>With his infectious enthusiasm and phrases McCarthy has captivated global audiences at the Olympic Games for over 20 years and last year during the Paris games earned praise from the New York Times in their full page piece on him which stated “Every four years , he gives Ireland a reason to watch basketball, he makes basketball irresistible and created a huge fan base during the Games”.</p><p>He is married to Ann and they have 3 children and 10 grandchildren.</p><p>Tim was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer disease in 2018.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Geraldine is a Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) specialising in Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) and Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) at Galway University Hospital’s urology day services. Her role primarily involves managing men with LUTS and those needing ESWL for stone treatment. Additionally, she teaches patients intermittent self-catheterisation and self-dilatation, and conducts invasive urodynamic studies to inform treatment decisions. Geraldine collaborates with all eight Consultant Urologists at Galway University Hospital.</p><p><br/></p><p>In 20026, Geraldine graduated with an Honour’s Degree in General Nursing from Athlone Institute of Technology. With 15 years of urology experience in both Australia and Ireland, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Urology from RCSI in 2019. In 2022, she became a Registered Nurse Prescriber and earned a Master’s Degree in Advanced Practice in June 2023, along with a certificate in Authority to Refer for Ionizing Procedures.</p><p><br/></p><p>Research and audit are key aspects of her role and she recently participated in a study with the Health and Innovation HUB in GUH on “Convolutional Neural Network for Ultrasound Bladder Scanner.” Additionally, she contributed to a cross-sectional study on patient enablement after consultations with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, which has been published.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Professor Bouchier-Hayes has been providing urological care at Galway Clinic since 2006 and during that time has maintained an interest in innovation and technological progress in urological practice. As well as being involved heavily in the introduction of robotic surgery for prostate cancer to Ireland, he also maintains a keen interest in Greenlight laser surgery for benign prostatic disease, as well as radiofrequency intraprostatic steam injection (Rezum), where he was amongst the first to be trained in the technique in Ireland. He consistently tries to use this practice in combination with innovative technologies to provide the best standard of care to patients.</p><p>Professor Bouchier-Hayes graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland 1991. Appointed to the Dublin surgical training scheme in 1993 and as Clinical lecturer in Urology, University College Dublin, 1996.</p><p>Appointed British Urological Foundation Scholar, 1996. Appointed Irish Senior Registrar Training Scheme Urology 1999-2003. MD by Thesis University College Dublin 2003. Urological Fellow and Junior Consultant, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, 2003-2006. Senior Lecturer in Urology, University of Melbourne, 2004-2006</p><p>His many areas of clinical research had been in the field of laser surgery for benign prostatic disease where he was the lead investigator on the first of and he was controlled trial in the world comparing green light laser prostatectomy to standard TURP, and have continued interests in this area. He was also the lead author on the first published paper describing a series of robotic radical prostatectomies performed in an Irish institution.</p><p>Under the hospices of Professor Anthony J. Costello in the Royal Melbourne Hospital, who is one of the lead figures in urological surgery of his generation, Prof. Bouchier-Hayes was the first assistant of the first case performed of robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy in the southern hemisphere. It was also under his guidance that Prof. Bouchier-Hayes developed his interest in laser surgery. Allied to this, he undertook management of patient's across and number of hospital side and was the recipient of the inaugural Anthony J. Costello Fellowship prize.</p>]]></description>

Whether it’s with students, with other nurses, or with patients themselves, Siobhan loves breaking things down in a way that makes sense to help people feel confident and involved in their care.</p><p>Today she get's to do a bit of all three, share with you how the 'Self-Managed' Follow Up Pathway is being developed and why 'survivorship' is about so much more than just a PSA result.</p>]]></description>

She holds a diploma and Psychosexual Medicine, is an accredited Colposcopist and is recognised by the British Menopause Society as a Specialist in Menopause care. She has also worked in Forensic Gynaecology.&nbsp;&nbsp; She leads a wonderful team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners in her own practice Marble Arch Health and operates in the Galway Clinic, Kingsbridge Private Hospital, Sligo and has her own clinic in Enniskillen.</p><p>She enjoys Pilates. Her happy place is in theatres and she much prefers performing a vaginal hysterectomy than cooking a dinner!</p>]]></description>
