This helps a child to communicate because some are non-verbal or still learning how to talk, some just blabber their words. They can express their feelings by drawing a picture of how they are feeling. An ECE worker can support by asking yes/no questions and they can ask for more information by asking the child to continue drawing how they’re feeling.

—ROBIN

in my opinion art helps children to communicate with someone because what if the children can’t talk good or can’t talk. Seeing with the child made out of art helps what that child is trying to say. An ECE worker will ask questions and look at the child for their reaction or to see if they agree or not.

Art helps children communicate by getting them to express what they’re feeling or thinking through non-verbal communication. ECE workers can support this by asking the children what they’re drawing, colouring or painting and encouraging them to keep doing what they’re doing because they are doing a very good job. ECE workers can also support this by providing all sorts of resources for the children to use such as papers, crayons, markers, paint and paint brushes.

-Lisa

Art can help children communicate as they share and teach some ideas on art activities, they laugh and hold conversations about their art. Colouring is a great way to start a conversation, it allows the opportunity for children to speak to one another. Talking about their art helps them process and let go of feelings through actions, helps them learn names for colours and shapes. This activity improves their language.

-Angel A.

art helps children communicate with others by drawing or painting with they are feeling. If the child is still learning how to talk or can’t really talk, they’ll do it on paper. An ECE worker will look at the art and ask the child questions and look at the child to see their response and will understand what the child is saying. Art can also just be a fun activity for them. When we put out a painting crafts, the kids get excited cause we mainly do painting once a week.

Doing any kind of art, helps the children help communicate and asks questions about it. It helps them not be shy, talk more and especially for the non talkative kid, I have this child who is so shy and eventually got the hang of showing me what she’s done and is so proud when I’m happy for what she did. It helps communicate! An ECE worker can help support by being by their side and say nice job, well done etc.. It’ll help them to be comfortable and confident in showing their work with the teachers.

Hattie

Art. It is important to do arts with children as it help them to learn. Learn how to colour inside the lines, how to draw, how to use and cut with scissors. Helps them to ask for help when needed, also it is teaching them to have patience
