Start by asking if the children already know anything about butterflies. Then discuss what they already know.

Next, the students will get out their laptops and they will go to a quizlet (https://quizlet.com/276412083/butterfly-vocab-flash-cards/) that was made and they will study different vocabulary about the butterfly. Have the Quizlet up at the front of the board so you can walk along the words with them.

Now that they know a little bit more about the vocabulary they will watch a video about how caterpillars become butterflies (metamorphosis stages) https://youtu.be/TvmQiWpgX5c.

Then they will watch another video about the parts of a butterfly. https://youtu.be/VNMQwLdHz30

Then they will watch another video about facts of the butterfly. https://youtu.be/1b87rwtXGzA

After watching the “Parts of a Butterfly” they will then fill out a worksheet. The worksheet will have a picture of a butterfly and they will have to label the different parts. Underneath they have to use the words they labeled the parts with, into a word story.

The next thing they will do is take an online test about the parts of a butterfly on their laptop. Once they pass they will them raise their hand and you can go around to make sure everyone passed. https://www.proprofs.com/quiz-school/story.php?title=name-butterfly-parts

After the students are done taking their tests they will be allowed to play butterfly games as their reward for getting all of their work done. Once everyone is on the website they will have 10 minutes to play any of the games on http://www.primarygames.com/science/butterflies/games.htm .

The final part of the lesson is encouraging them to watch for butterflies while outside of school and when they see one they should draw a picture of it and tell you about it while using the vocabulary they learned.
