Instructions:

Work in pairs or small groups.

Your group will be given real-life situations (see below).

For each situation, think of two reactions:

1) how would a person with a fixed mindset react

2) how would a person with a growth mindset react

It is best to use words and phrases from the text to explain your ideas.

Be prepared to share your group's reactions with the class. Time to complete the task is 5-10 minutes.

Situations for discussion:

You failed the test.

You didn't make the high school football team.

Your friend draws better than you.

Example answer:

Situation - You failed a test.

Fixed Mindset Reaction - I'm just bad at this subject.

Growth Mindset Reaction - I didn't study enough this time. I can learn from this and do better next time.
