My family is different from the book because my parents always work to bring food to our house and also my mom always makes my little sister her food.
Quote

Find a quote in this chunk that stood out to you. Please also include a picture or GIF to further describe this quote.

Give context for your quote. What was happening in the story that made this quote significant? Who was speaking?

Why did this quote stand out to you?

“’Good for you…You’ve got to get right back in the saddle. You can’t live in fear of something as basic as fire’” (15). The context of this quote was that Jeannette goes right back to cooking for herself because she has to eat and no one else will make her food. In this quote Jeannette was speaking and this quote stands for how to have responsibility in our life because no one is going to do our things just because.

Formalist Lens

Choose three (3) Formalist Lens Questions to respond to. Your responses should thoroughly respond to the prompt in at least three sentences. 1) The patterns that I found in the book were the repeated words. For example, the narrator always mentions the word. poor, dad ´ s story mentions this in the chapters we already read. 2) This book evokes me sadness because it is crazy to see how this family are and how poor they are but they also don ´ t put their effort to change their situation. 3) A significant event was when Jeannette Walls went to the hospital and she would rather stay there because it looks more clean than her house. I believe the author wants to say how poor people live because most of the people would want to go to their homes instead of staying at the hospital.
