My daily schedule right now is fairly similar across all days. It does change slightly on weekends, but it's still close to the weekdays. On weekdays, I wake up around 7am, and stay in bed anywhere from 15 minutes to 90 minutes, as I don't have a first period, so I can sleep in on those days. After I get up, I brush my teeth and take a shower. I then get dressed and pack my backpack with what I need for the day. I go downstairs to eat breakfast and pack a lunch, if I have time to, however I usually just pack a snack and call it a day. Then I put on my shoes and go to school.

After school, at 3:05 or 3:50 (Yes, I have a seventh period in senior year) I make my way home either walking or driving, depending on the day (Monday & Thursdays I drive, rest I walk). Once I get home, I eat some small snack and rest for up to an hour. After this, I would finally start my homework for the day and go until around 8pm, which is when I would eat dinner. After dinner, I would continue to do homework if I had any left, or I would rest and sleep around 11pm. My weekends are similar to this, but since I so not have school, I wake up around 9am, and begin my homework around 2pm after I eat lunch.

I think that this has been the general idea of my schedule for as long as I can remember. Some of the timings have moved around a bit as I sleep later and school starts at different times, but overall it has stayed the same. I think that this reflects by feelings about my current schedule, as I have had a variation of it for a long time, I feel comfortable following it everyday. I feel happy with this schedule, as I feel like it gives me enough time to rest, which I can switch out for work on a busy day. I think that changing this schedule would make me more stressed, as more of my time would be spent planning the days ahead. In my current situation, I have a plan I can default to whenever I have work. My schedule is built around my work ethic, and I think everyone could be happy if they have one that revolves around theirs.

I would say my most valuable possession is the ring I wear on my right ring finger. It was gifted to me after what is called a 'thread ceremony', which is like a coming of age celebration all men have to go through at some point in my culture. In the ceremony, everyone is given a choice to continue on this world and embrace the traditional "duties of a man" like getting married and building a family. The other choice would be the spiritual life where you denounce all material things and become isolated where you can connect with the spiritual plane. This ceremony is also supposed to represent "becoming a man" (but you can do it at any time in your life), and people will receive a thread of 3 strings, which will increase to 15 after marriage. After my thread ceremony, I was gifted my ring by my mother to represent the choice I made. It was to show that even though I chose to stay in this world, I still wish to be connected to the spiritual plane. My ring represents this whole ceremony, and it also represents my family, as my father also got the same ring after his thread ceremony, and has been wearing it ever since.

I would say that my single greatest fear in life after high school is to become independent. This fear also includes putting too much of a burden on myself. Since I am the younger of two children, I would say that I was given a lot more freedoms than my sister, who set an example for what to expect for most things for my parents. I feel like because of this, I often felt as if I should try things on my own even when I have a great support system next to me. I feel that in college, since I am going a lot farther than my sister I might end up becoming too independent and will not be able to ask for help when I need it, thinking. "I can do this myself." My parents tell me that my sister was bale to handle her massive workload my talking about her struggles and having a second opinion. Effective communication is a great way to relive stress, in my opinion, and I will have to learn that in the coming months and years as I transition into a new stage of life. I think that I should learn how to be independent while still being able to reach out and ask for help.

Institutionalized - Kendrick Lamar

"Dream only a dream if work don't follow it"

I think that this lyric speaks to me the most because it mirrors my beliefs, but it's also something that I have been taught since childhood. My parents would tell me that hard work & grit are the only things that matter in America, with those two, you can get anywhere. In the lyric, he says that one's dreams won't be realized unless they put work behind it. In both cases the importance of putting in the work is emphasized, and I have carried these beliefs with me throughout my high school career.

I feel like the best novel that I read during high school would probably be The Great Gatsby. Even though the first few chapters are fairly slow, chapters 5-9 really pick up the pace and have the most content. I really like how many interpretations of the book there are, and how there is a critique or point about almost every part of modern society.
