Improved Reflexive Journal # 3

Reflecting on the moment in time I wrote this journal, I was overwhelmed by this course and could not understand why I have to reflect so often. Now that I have gotten time to look over all my activities I able to reflect a bit clearer, here it goes:

When I process my experiences and reflect I am now able to see the ways in which I have changed. This can be seen in my response to formative assessment activity #12 (My Top Ten Insights) with my #1 being “the importance of being able to adapt and embrace changed for learning success”. I am now of the opinion that there is no way, “I” can be successful if I do not realize the importance change plays in my life. I no longer find online learning difficult but I think it is very convenient in this 21st century and I was surely able to benefit for this.

There are a few things I never want to forget one of them are unit #3 reflective-reflective practice for life-long learning. One of the reasons I never want to forget this unit is because, I personally believe that learning never ends, no matter what age you are, also this unit addresses the continuous need for development as a professional. In other words this unit addresses how life-long learning should be a way of life for individuals. Also my learning preference which is (aural), some of the strategies that were suggested to me example tape recording myself reading notes are practices I will continue to do throughout my academic life. Last but no least the importance of being a self- empowered learner (unit 1) I chose this unit because it brought attention to my strengths and weaknesses along with routine behavior that may have been affecting me in a positive or negative way.

Throughout the commencement of this course the #1 skilled I have learnt is “learning from my experiences” the ability to be a reflective/reflexive learner. This can be confirmed if my activities from the beginning of the course are compared to those towards the ending, not for forgetting an examination of my reflective journals will also support my claim. I have come to the realization that in order for me to have made the transition easier for myself was to stop complaining and focus of the benefits of online learning and trying to derive the benefits for being a having increase knowledge of myself through reflective/reflexive learning.

To conclude this journal I think the things I would share with others is that: it is paramount to know your learning preference when pursuing your education. Also I would share with them what reflective/reflexive learning is and how it can benefit learner, last but not lease. I would encourage persons to define what “success” means to them, as for me I agreed with Mr Wooden theory of success in unit 1, formative assessment activity # 6. I believe knowing what success means to you will surely aid one on their path towards being a self- directed learner.

I never want to forget the benefits of reflections (although now I am a bit tired of reflecting) I do appreciate the awareness it has given me. I have learnt how to recognize my strengths and weaknesses, I have learnt how to a reflect ad analyze situations before reacting and how to use reflection to aid me in not making the same mistakes. Personally based on my reflection of this semester I will reduce on the amount of course I take up next semester (brain overload). I will share the importance of knowing your learning style, this will help anyone who is pursuing a higher form of education. Also I will definitely share the importance of reflections because it is an avenue to realize the things you need to change about yourself for you to become better than who you was yesterday.
