Currently the members are working on the individual Journal. Task has been delegated with supervision of Ms Dee. Will be meeting  right after the New Year's break as most of the members are back in respective hometowns. Building was great too, other than finding cockroach eggs in places and mouse being glued to a trap, there were some pretty interesting elements in the cafe such as their signature window which the owner mentioned that only 2 buildings in Melaka have them. The unique part about the window is it's material which is concrete. One thing that i noticed from the historical building was the extremely high ceiling and also the inconsistency in the dimensions of each beams, columns, wall thickness and doors. Another interesting thing about the site is that the walls are decorated with framed maps. They are actually from visitors all over the world and they sort of gave the site a spirit, a sense of being used and also as a record of who had been there.

The architecture of this cafe is full of the sense of culture of Malacca. This cafe got two space that i like. It is a void in the middle of this building structure. We were able to finish what we planned to do and still had a great time together. It was hard sometimes to get measurements when there are customers around and there were a lot of furniture that slows our progress. There are a total of 19 colours in the cafe, it creates a colourful and fun experience for everyone in that space. The interior of the cafe had been reconstructed so the cafe can run smoothly while the exterior is left mostly untouched. Now the measurings are done, I am focusing on the journal. Upon further intensive research as a group we deducted that the efforts of renovation and work put into the building was of strategic purposes. This is shown in the site context of the building which centralizes with Jonker street and main tourists attraction spots. The play of spaces inside the building allows the user to experience feel familiar hospitality. The different levels inside the building plays of different hierarchy upon entering as users experience different levels of dining and socializing. The colors chosen for the building remains a center of attraction which catches the eye of onlooking tourists. The vibrant colors reflect the what the building aims to be which is to be different and a hub for connecting people from different places. The building carefully merges adaptive reuse with is personal modern twist in renovation which still pleases younger and older generation of users.

We able to complete within the time limit given. It was an eye opening experience where there were lots of significant elements located in the building, some are preserved for more than 100 years for example the red bricks, louvered windows, steel sliding doors, Dutch awnings, terracotta roofing and etc. Besides that, the organisation of spaces in this cafe was done spontaneously with the influence of site context and site analysis. Geograpaher Cafe which located in UNESCO site with rich historical and cultural background has many prestigious architecture elements need to be preserved. It is when we studied the building that we realised the effort being the renovation of the Geographers Cafe. The architectural elements of the buildings, forms, structures, were not changed. It was like giving the building a second life. Even the structure of the window canopy was kept the same.  The blinds were also repainted The atmosphere generated by the multiple colours inside the cafe was unique. First day of the week of completing journals, video and plans (elevations, plans & sections). Divided work will still be conducted together as it is more efficient and promotes teamwork. Just as the Genus Loci of the site which is strong in Unity and Community, we as Geo Group are practicing as what we've studied.

Today the group plan to finish up the floor plans and site plans, video and report on the first half of the day. The second half will be focused on elevations and sections and continuing with the report and video in preparation for submissions. Main task for today was finishing up the final video, while progressing with our report, journal and plans. Floor plans have been completed and we are half way through with elevations. Minor details has also been completed. Report is also progressing well with final layouts being done. Final touches on journal will be conducted individually after every group sessions.
