In the beginning the French built a chain of forts in the Ohio river valley. This was to stunt the growth of the British in the valley. But the British wanted to stop them from building their fort, Fort Duquesne. This causes the governor of Virginia to send out a colonel named George Washington to win control over the valley. Their first initial battle was a victory but after the second one where the French and the American Indian allies joined the British troop surrendered. But in 1775 a new general led them into battle. So following this it led to the British invasion of French Canada in 1756.

The stamp act was created by the British Parliament in order to pay for the costs of the war. This meant that there was a necessity to put a stamp that the colonists had to pay for on legal documents, printed goods, newspaper, pamphlets, and advertisements. Because of this outrageous act it led to the creation of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty.

This act was created to pay for the salaries of the crown officials in Britain. They would collect revenue on tea, glass, and paper. This caused the people to rebel and start smuggling goods, but the Townshend act allowed government officials to search for any suspected homes. This led to certain leaders protesting like when John Dickerson made the Letters From a Farmer in Pennsylvania. This was so different people could understand how farmers and people who did not make much felt.

These documents were written to made a difference and to protest the feelings of underpaid colonists. It was to show how the crown deprived them of their legal rights. The whole movement was based on "No taxation without representation" this meant that they could not be taxed unless if someone was in the British Parliament that was from the colonies to tell them about what was happening they would not accept taxes. This caused Samuel Adams and James Otis to create the Massachusetts Circular Letter which described on how they all cumulatively as a colony agreed to get rid of the Townshend acts.

Many of the colonists hated the fact that there was guards everywhere at all times. This caused a group of them to start harassing some guards. This included throwing rocks and rotten produce at them. Because the colonists hated the fact that they were under the crowns control. They hated the taxes so they took it out on someone under the crown. This caused the guards to get agitated with the crowd of people. This then caused them to fire some shots into the crowd causing 5 deaths of innocent people. But the guards were at the same point standing up for themselves.

The delegates did not want to split or want independence for that matter. They just wanted protection, peace, and the ability to give the people their rights. There was an "Olive Branch Petition" that was created to try to smooth out their relationship and that the colonies would pledge their loyalty to the crown. But King George hated this so he rejected the idea. This caused the colonies to officially announce and say that they were in rebellion and this later caused the trade between the colonies and Britain to be shut down.

Richard Henry Lee introduced a idea to be an independent country. Where they would have their own political system separated from the crown. This would include being able to vote for themselves, be in control of their own rights, having their own acts to abide by, and not having to listen to other countries to rule over them. It allowed the people to be in their own "pursuit of happiness". It was based on King George III's rules and went against them to prove they are independent.

The Intolerable acts were created after the Boston Tea Party. This was because the crown was very mad that the colonists threw their product away and forced them to pay it back with the new act. This meant that the ports were closed until the money was paid back. The crown also reduced their political power and increased the power of the crown over them. This affected the political side of this because the colonies saw this as very unfair to belittle them because they were standing up for themselves.

The crown decided to make another act. This was the Tea Act, it added a tax to tea but it also made the price of tea a lot lower than it normally was. A shipment of east India tea company tea came in and sat untouched on the shore and some artisans decided to take action. They dressed as American Indians and threw the abandoned tea into the harbor. There was then 342 chests of tea in the harbor and the crown was very mad at the colonies for wasting their money and time. But they did this because they were standing up for their rights and for themselves. They wanted to be heard and seen.

This group was created for the purpose of intimidating the tax agents and to speak out for the people in many different ways. To let their thoughts be heard. They would destroy revenue stamps and go as far as tar and feathering revenue officials and make fun of them to show them what they're doing by collecting the innocent peoples money and freedom. They also held meetings with the members as needed so they could all catch up on certain things they needed. Like planning boycotts, making posters, or just planning in general.

This letter was created by James Otis and Samuel Adams. This was because the townspeople became very upset and angry about the Townshend acts. This letter was made to overturn the acts and urged the repeal of them. It later on caused boycotts and threats to be thrown around abut dissolving the legislature they had created. This was because there was no representatives for the colonies in the mother country. So they were being held back from their right to speak and voice their opinion of how to tax people.
