A lot of people listen to what opinions are on the internet. The internet is a very fast and effective way of influencing big groups of people. The media can influence stereotypes just because of how big and influential it is. Certain people online have very strong opinions and their whole follower base normally agrees with what they say.

The media play a role in encouraging stereotypes because biased portrayals are shown in the media, and other people can watch or see someone's opinion. And people like fans or kids can then repeat or say what other people have said encouraging stereotypes. And giving them the idea that it is okay to say the things that have seen or have heard. Media encourages stereotypes through many ways, whether it be a small comment on someone ´ s behaviors and features to making characters such as the popular show from the late 90s to the early 2000s, The Proud Family. The show created a set of Asian triplets who followed all of the stereotypes made about Asians like having amazing grades, doing martial arts, the exaggerated small eyes. Examples such as these, especially to the younger demographic the show was aimed towards at the time, influence how people view a certain group based on what it portrayed to them. Media can also battle these stereotypes through showing diversity and portraying all their characters as ones with complex lives and traits that aren't solely based on stereotypes aimed towards a character's features. A show that accomplishes this well ,whether to show more diversity or to amend past injustices, The Proud Family; Louder and Prouder. The show's re-run brings back the same Asian triplets from their original show except this time, they give the characters a whole new look that differentiates them and takes away the insulting stereotypes the triplets originally followed.
