Jesse is one of three of the main characters. He is reserved, cunning, and to other people, is seen as closed-off or creepy. He is one of the most realistic characters in the book and shines a light on the actions of a man who's had a bad run and won't get out of the race.

Cate Collins is just an ordinary high school girl with a bucket list. That is, that's what she seems to be. Cate is caring and always puts others' needs before her own, even if it hurts her. She does her best to have a normal life, even with challenges like having an absent father and a mother with schizophrenia.

Seven days. The world has seven days until there is no more. Characters Jesse, Cate, and Adeem all come from different areas. Different lives, different issues, different virtues. But as time narrows, their paths merge as everything else seems to fall apart.

I rate this book five stars because it was well-written with gorgeous vocabulary and the author makes the characters likeable and unlikeable. It has a sort of realism to it (as far as realism goes in a partly sci-fi book) that kept me hooked and wanting to read more. The author found a way to tie together each and every character's background, into an interesting twist at the end. I will definitely read this again.
