The end result was not at all what I thought or wanted to happen. The doughnuts were very dense and dry. I wanted them to be light, soft and fluffy. The doughnuts weren't to bad of a baking fail just not the best batch I ever made. In the end the doughnuts had a hue of pink to them. I made some friends try them. They were edible just not seconds worthy.

The problem that occurred with making the doughnuts was the first batch came out fine. But I went and started making a second batch when I realised I didn't have any milk and was slightly low on applesauce. So i thought it would be a good idea to just use juice as a liquid. In the past when I alter the recipe and add more, less or something new it has always turned out fine.

Ways I could have fixed this problem would have been to use a milk alternative or to not make a second batch. Another way I could have avoided a baking fail would have been to use a different recipe like a sour cream base one instead of an applesauce one.

I chose baking as an example of innovation because baking lets you be creative, have imagination, plan and problem solve. When your baking your free to do whatever you want. You can either stick to the recipe 100% or you can change it up. Another reason is baking lets you learn from your mistakes. Lets you see what works and what doesn't.
