If I had to choose between Athens and Sparta, I would choose Sparta. I would choose Athens because it has certain things Sparta doesn’t since I’m a boy I don’t have to worry about any of the ladies' restrictions. In Athens I could also get a better education then Sparta, in Sparta you go to military school when your seven and have to serve the military for your whole life. In Athens, you only have to serve 2 years in the military, and Athens education focused on philosophy, biology, and math Athens could provide me with a better education then Sparta. In both Athens and Sparta, they are both classified as city-states. Athens and Sparta also both had slaves, the slaves were allowed to work at home, in trade, or as a farmer. In Athens women couldn't vote or do most of the jobs men could, women weren't allowed to leave their houses without a man with them, In Sparta, they were the direct opposite, women could do most jobs men could leave their houses by themselves, and women were able to vote. Athens used coin money for their currency, Athens also encouraged travel and trade. In Sparta they focused on military training, they only allowed men to be soldiers, they killed weak babies and didn't allow travel. In summary, I think Athens is a better city-state to live in because they were less strict than Sparta.
