The city of Volos (the capital of our region), a mythical destination
Volos is one of the largest and most attractive cities in Greece as well as one of the country’s most prominent ports. The modern-day city, built near the site of ancient Iolcos, dominates the region of Magnesia from its position at the foot of Mount Pelion overlooking the Pagasetic Gulf. This is one of the most beautiful areas in Thessaly, in the center of Greece (Volos is situated 320km N of Athens and 219km S of Thessaloniki) combining the allure of the sea with the mystical charm of the Centaurs’ mountain

2nd Gymnasio of Almyros, Magnesia, Greece
The 2nd Junior High School of Almyros is a public school with students aged from 12 to 15 years. It is located in a semi-urban and rural area of central Greece. Today, due to the economical crisis, the region of Almyros is plagued by a lack of resources and, therefore, by an inability of the students and their families to follow further extracurricular learning activities outside formal schooling. The school has 190 students and employs 26 teachers per year, which provide all possible learning opportunities within and outside the public educational system, dedicating time for extracurricular learning activities. The school participates in many cultural, environmental, learning and educational programs. Due to the lack of extracurricular opportunities and the distance from the nearest urban center, to avoid the risk of social exclusion and a limited access to learning opportunities, our school is the core of the social and educational inclusion not only for our students, but also for the entire community with initiatives such as:
- Reception classes for students with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds (children of immigrants)
- The organization of educational and cultural events at our school, open to the local community
- Excellent and effective cooperation of local associations (Parents and guardians, cultural, sporting, environmental) with the school community, to provide knowledge and skills.
- Participation in student competitions (mathematics, sports, music, etc, European contests.)
- Cooperation with other schools in learning networks (Member of environmental networks: "Olive", "The stone bridges of Greece" and "The European path E4 and E6")
- Participation in a Comenius project entitled: SMILE (Students' Motivation Inspires Learning in Europe) and in Erasmus+KA1 project, Teachers4Europe project

Makrinitsa village Pelion: Visitors who will have the lick to visit Makrinitsa will be amazed by its unique beauty and will never want to leave this dreamy place. The village of Makrinista is a pure jewel hanging on the side of the amazingly green mountain. It is divided in two settlement, Koukourava and Moutsara, only 500m one from another. Makrinitsa is known as the noble village, because it was mostly inhabited by wealthy people. This is why most of the houses in Makrinitsa are noble mansions, very richly decorated. The village is also known as the balcony of Pelion because of its amazing view due to its location (630m above the sea). The houses have decorated tall walls and window, work of the folk-artists of the region. All the climbing streets of Makrinitsa are stone paved and lead to a beautiful large square, shadowed by tall plane trees. The square has a cafeterias, a lovely church dedicated to Agios Ioannis Prodromos and a carved marble fountain, built around 1809 and whose crystal clear waters are called Immortal Water. The whole place offers tranquility, natural beauty and peace. In Makrinitsa, visitor can visit many beautiful churches and basilica as well as the Folklore Museum which has a wonderful collection of rare objects and mementos.

Tsipouro (also called tsikoudia or raki in Crete) is a quintessential Greek spirit alongside the more commonly recognised Ouzo. Tsipouro is made by distilling the residue of grapes left over from the wine pressing process and produces a strong spirit of 40-45% alcohol. While traditionally tsipouro has no additives to affect taste, certain central and northern regions of Greece are known for producing tsipouro with anise flavour and there is a growing trend of ageing tsipouro in barrels enabling a range of unique flavours related to each barrel's previous use!

Souvlaki (Greek: σουβλάκι, [suˈvlaci]), plural souvlakia, is a popular greek fast food consisting of small pieces of meat and sometimes vegetables grilled on a skewer.
Souvlaki is a general term but it usually refers to meat of some sort, beef, lamb, or pork. You may have heard about gyro (pronounced yee-row), which is meat placed in a round vertical rotisserie.

Preparation
The meat is sliced off as it becomes done and is put on a round pita bread with lettuce, tomato, onions, and tzatziki, a cucumber-yogurt-garlic sauce that in our opinion is what makes souvlaki delicious, giving it an authentic greek taste.
In some souvlaki corners (souvlaki can be found almost everywhere) the meat is skewered and sometimes you can get ground beef, which is generally known as beefteki.
Souvlaki comes in wax paper which keeps it all together and you eat it like you are peeling a banana.
