         <description><![CDATA[<div>-A 1790 law was the first to specify who could become a citizen, limiting that privilege to free whites of “good moral character” who had lived in the U.S. for at least two years.<br>- In 1870, the right was extended to those of African origin.</div><div>Starting in 1875, a series of restrictions on immigration were enacted. They included bans on criminals, people with contagious diseases,beggars and importers of prostitutes.&nbsp;<br>- First limiting migration from China and later banning immigration from most Asian countries.<br>-In 1952, legislation allowed a limited number of visas for other Asians.<br>- In 1965, factors led to passage of the landmark Immigration and Nationality Act that created a new system favoring family reunification and skilled immigrants.<br>-In 1986, Congress enacted another major law – the Immigration Reform and Control Act – that granted legalization to millions of unauthorized immigrants, mainly from Latin America, who met certain conditions.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Britain has a much smaller population of undocumented immigrants. They draw most of their immigrants from former colonies. Black Caribbean and Black African people are more integrated with whites. To immigrate to the UK, you have to earn a visa. You must have certain qualifications and must be prove you are worthy to live in the Uk.  There are five visas you can qualify for. They include high valued immigrants, skilled workers, low skilled workers, older students,and young people that have reciprocal arrangements from the U.K. There are also visitor, family, and business visas.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-"position is very clear, and that is we are not going to accept people who have sought to come to our country illegally by boat, they will not settle permanently in our country.” <br>- The new immigration policy changed where a non-citizen could apply for Australian protection.<br>-Over the next two years, Australia deported or diverted <a href="http://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/search/display/display.w3p;query=Id%3A%22media%2Fpressrel%2FYMDA6%22">1,544 asylum-seekers</a> to the detention camps, and paid to operate the camps in both countries.<br>-In 2014, asylum-seekers at the Manus Island detention center protested which ended with the death of a <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-02-18/one-dead-77-injured-in-manus-island-unrest/5265960">23-year-old Iranian</a>. Women and children complain of sexual abuse. And <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-13/immigration-detention-times-blow-out-to-almost-450-days/7085264">recent numbers</a> put the average stay at 450 days, though almost one-quarter of asylum-seekers spend more than two years in the camps.<br><br></div>]]></description>
