I woke up this morning thrilled yet anxious for what lies ahead on my journey. As I glance over the map, I get a sense of what direction my wife and I need to travel on the Silk road. We will be heading east, starting in Chang'an, China, and ending in Europe. In our travels, there are concerns of looters, trying to steal the things I have to sell, dust storms, as we pass through the vast desert, and hunger, as there might not be many places along the way to stop for food and water. We need to make sure to pack plenty enough water, food, and any other necessities we might need as we travel the Silk Road.

I have now reached the Dunhuang caves. As I look around me, I notice the statues, paintings, and carvings in the wall. According to the map, these caves serve as a place to rest for travelers on the silk road. They are able to resupply with things they need and take them on the rest of their journey. I have come across so many religions on the Silk road because in many of the caves, people have built Buddhist shrines, which brings the religion Buddhism into these caves, along with many other religions such as hinduism and Islam. Religion and ideas have been spread widely due to the silk road because people from all over the world have come to travel on it, and with all of those people comes different ideas and religions. These can be passed down from people through conversation, resulting in the spread of religion and ideas.

The sun has beaten down on me all day and I am exhausted. As I make my way through the dry desert, I start to feel lightheaded, trying everything in my power not to faint. There is nothing in my line of sight, all I can see is the yellowness of the sand. For a second I start to see things, then realize it's only my imagination. This land has so much yet so little to offer at the same time. The silk road pursues through this desert, which offers a lot to people traveling on this road. There are no places to stop or sights to see, though. At this point in time, all I can think about is reaching my destination.

When I reached Marakanda, I instantly knew I would love it. There is rich soil, thick forests, and many horses and flowers. The people here are also incredible, they have taught me a lot about their culture. For however long I'm here for, I want to get to know the people here more and just enjoy being here, according to the map, the weather is always temperate, and the people are brave and energetic. I am hoping the rest of my journey, with my wife by my side, goes smoothly and that there are no looters or wild animals to destroy what we have brought on this journey.

It is the final day, and I have finally reached my destination. According to the map, during our travels a lot had been sold! 500 seeds for orange trees was traded for 500 seeds for grapevines, 10 bolts of silk was traded for 20 skeins of wool, and 10 ceramic vases were traded for 20 bags of Indian pepper! I sold the ivory that I brought with me and made a fortune out of that, so I would say the Silk Road was a success! This journey turned out the way I had hoped for, my wife and I are very content with what we have accomplished during our travels. There were some difficulties, of course, such as dehydration in the Gobi desert, wild animals, and not finding places to rest. All that matters is that we overcame those and that it is time to head back home. This trip was an experience of a lifetime, but it's time to get back to real-life now.
