There is an inadequate amount of analysis, the claims made are not connected, and the author relies on  summary from the text as evidence. Essay 5 has an adequate amount of analysis and better control of their written English language. The main difference between the two prompts would be the amount of analysis used, the level of language, and the method used in referencing evidence from the text.

It is clear that the writer has grasper the deeper understanding in the prompt, but lacks the higher level elements of an essay that would of scored an 8 or a 9. Essay 9 demonstrates a high level of sophistication--- in the author's claims, textual evidence, structure of the essay, and language. The main difference between the two prompts is the level of language and diction, the degree of analysis, and the support for claims made in the essay (the text based evidence).

Although my claims are not always supported with the best text based evidence and analysis, it is clear that they offer a deeper understanding of the prompt. My evidence is also based around references to summary or paraphrasing, which is common in lower level essays such as a 5. In my essay, I reveal a degree of control towards my prompt-- adequate, but lacking in higher level elements.
