Born in 1450, Hiawatha was a Native American visionary thought to be responsible for bringing 5 tribes together in the Iroquois Confederacy, with peaceful and democratic co-existence for some time. Hiawatha was maybe in fact a composite figure, this has been suggested through story. The subject of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Song of Hiawatha is someone different, Nanabozho.

Samuel de Champlain was a great French explorer because he is best known for establishing and governing settlements of New France and Quebec. He was a cartographer, and that helped him travel around the globe and that made it easier for him. He was also a geographer, which helped him find his way across the globe as well.He was on of the best explorers of his time, in which in his earlier life, him and his uncle would travel all the way to Spain and the West Indies.
