Obviously, that means all of us have experienced it in some way. Some may say it's an incredible thing, but others may say it's a waste of time. It's controversial for thousands upon thousands of reasons, but let's get into. There is the side of education that teaches us right from wrong, how to be better citizens, our own heritage and history, the importance of hard work, and even basic things like learning how to read and write. But there's also the side of, why are these things so important? Are they really relevant to what I'm planning to do after I graduate? Why does this matter? Once we comprehend the information taught to us over 13 years of our lives, starting at age four or 5, we can then chose to carry out a lifestyle with that information... or spend another 1-8 years in college finding a life perfect for you. Education impacts us, because we must pass high school to do most things. If we don't graduate, then it's harder to do things like get a job, buy a house, etc. It's the key to the lock of the padlock that withholds our future. The side of this whole argument, however, is whether it is actually important. Should we need to graduate the education system to grasp a promising future? If I don't, have I just condemned myself to a homeless, hungry lifestyle? Some believe yes... some believe absolutely not, and education isn't important at all. One thing is most definitely true about the importance of the education system, and that's the basics of understanding, hard-working, reading, writing, and so on. But what after that? Our earliest memories usually come up in school. Although, there are some countries and people who don't go to school for their own reasons. That's the only exception of people that this doesn't affect. For the affected, however, there's billions of us. No matter your race, sexual orientation, gender, etc., you're impacted by education. If you were to live to 100 years, you spend at least 9/50, 18/100, almost 1/5 of your life in school. That's a pretty big deal. On average, we enter the education system at age 4 or younger depending on whether your parents chose for you to attend preschool. We're in it until we're at least 17. Our minds basically develop under the rules, restrictions, and demonstrations of the education system. The rules that're taught, we grow up with them and carry them on. Even the toxicity we gain from other people and from statistics, we grow up with them and carry them on. The education system affects billions of children and many people growing up around the world. It should be effective, shouldn't it? If we're spending our developing and earliest years in the system, don't you think it should be effective? It has to be worth it and important. Individual perspectives soon become different from one another as time goes on. In this case, the education system, it's a huge deal. 

Side 1: For education
Alicia Betz wrote in her article on "Education Corner", "If it weren’t for education at all levels, you wouldn’t be able to read, write, speak, think critically, make informed decisions, know right from wrong, effectively communicate, or understand how the world works." She's inferring that school teaches us the many basics to life. Without teachers and the early stages of kindergarten, she claims that we wouldn't have these skills. At the middle school level, the author of "Middle School Matters" wrote on TeachHub's website, "While we all know there are huge, important changes taking place in young people emotionally and socially during this period, there are many ways that academically it also is a critical time." They're claiming that because of the social and emotional changes occuring in their lives, education becomes very important so that students' brains development can be on the right track for high school and college success. On that note, according to Michele Meleen of "Teens Love to Know" high school is important because, "Teens learn valuable skills for life from peers and professionals. School days fill time with fun, informational activities and prepare teens for the world of work. There are many reasons a high school education is important, but most of all it is a means to achieve long-term goals and feel a sense of pride in accomplishment." She also gives the following categories, saying high school has a huge impact on all of them. The list is as follows, Earn a College Degree, Make More Money, Find and Keep a Job, Learn Life Skills, Live a Long Healthy Life, Contribute to Society, Have a Successful Marriage, Own and Keep Your Home, and Achieve Your Dreams. As we know, College is for your own purpose. This is when education becomes a choice. Depending on your dream job, you'd either go to College for its education, or go straight into the workforce for your dream job. 

Side 2: Against education
Sheila Baranoski states exactly on her blogging website, "I am here to very irreverently tell you that school isn’t only unnecessary for learning, but it’s bad for kids. Very often, kids are there against their will, which is a violation of their basic rights. Make no mistake: For kids who have been given no choice, school is essentially a day prison. We justify it because we say it’s necessary for their learning and development. It is what we’ve been told for many generations, but it is not true. School is not necessary." Her counter argument about early development in school is great! Rather than going through a system that basically molds who you're gonna become, you can become your own person through learning the basics on your own will, not being forced to. The school argument tells us that we need it without a doubt, but Sheila explains that society tries to mold us and accept it against our will. As for middle school, it's based on standardized tests and making sure you're prepared for high school, right? No. Middle school drives children crazy. They're emotionally, mentally, and even physically vulnerable. With all of the changes, it's hard to have the motivation to do anything. Julie Saint of "Your Teen Mag" stated, "Middle school is insecurity, hormones, and drama—oh, my goodness the drama! It’s a never-ending cycle, usually stemming from insecurity and hormones. I can’t think of anything worse than being stuck in the awful transition period between being a kid and a young adult." As you can see, middle school is a hot mess that we live and forget right away. It's the transition in between fun and seriousness. The amount of things that are unneeded, outweigh the so called "needed" things given in middle school. Lastly, as for high  school, an article written by Bob Larkin in 2018 on "Best Life Online" gives 27 ways high school is different than what it was years ago! Our society knows high school as fun and adventureful, but it's changed so much as the years go on. The content is taken out of proportion. Kids are learning things like quadratic formulas that they'll forget a month after the test, when they have no idea how to pay taxes! The content in high school is corrupt, but it's also the lack of privacy, they're pushed way too hard, they're isolated, they get less sleep, and so on! There are so many downsides to High School and it's unreal what children go through. College is again the same thing. The (now adult) gets to choose their fate in education. Schools were finally desegregated in 1954.
In 1837, Horace Mann developed the current school system. He organized the curriculum and set teachers in place to teach the classes. 
In 1977, teachers were ordered no more violent disciplinary actions, like spanking with a ruler. 
Violence has always been an issue, like keeping the schools safe. In 2019, just after 46 weeks, there had been it's 45th school shooting. 
For a little fun fact, the YouTube video I added to my sources shows a group of guys who made a video showing that if you don't graduate you're gonna be a loser. It's obvious that society tries molding a POV onto us about education and it's impact that makes absolutely no sense.
