From 2007 when we met, and we would go to Caros place in KCA university never minding that it was a humble place.

I am reminded of those fun days in Vasha, the fresh roses and good food.

I will particularly remember how you taught me to slow cook beef till it is tender, it tears with fingers.

And your amazing gardening: You've left a mark in Afrikana.

You were a great father to your gals Jabe and Pendo.

I thank God for the fateful Monday I drove to Kitale before you'd travel to the Netherlands for treatment.

And the day we spoke, you were un hospital but had an amazing view in your background. We didn't imagine you'd leave us this soon

I kept praying and believing you will be well, but then you rested.

Things were not moving well after Corona menace and we had just got into unexpected loss of more than 1.5 Million.

Having been close with Piet in our encounter at Afrikana yard cottages and more so through his wife Carol , I struck a deal with him that he shall twice a week be visiting the farm and offer technical support.

Slowing I learned a lot from him especially planting certified seeds, using fertilizer, using right chemicals for cure and crop prevention.

We travelled together that year to naivasha visited some farms for benchmarking.

That's time we partnered with PlantTech Ltd for getting quality seedlings for various crops for our kitale farm.

From that moment our agriculture evolved and in 2025 I can say now we have specialized in sugarcane farming.

In 2021 we wanted to experiment mushroom production and needed space near kitale Town, when I shared the idea with Piet he quickly agreed and gave us some space on his kitale land where Afrikana yard cottages are and we constructed a mushroom house.

He gave us this space for 2 years something that few can do unless they are gaining money out it.

He shared with me many life experiences, stating how he came from humble background and eventually became agronomist specializing in planting growth and maintenance of Roses.

Piet had a lot of humor, he was not worried about death , he could tell me how his father lived for many years and still at his old age did most of his chores for himself.

He loved his family, carol ,pendo and Jabe, they were source of his strength.

When it came to land scaping and planting beautiful flowers in his home garden no one could much him, if you really doubt this visit Afrikana cottage in kitale and testimony speaks for itself.

Piet you have left this world , we shall never see you in kitale, we are several miles from your Netherlands home , we mourn you, you have left a mark on this world .
