Hi my name is Kayla Kenney and I have only been teaching for 2 years. I predict this course might be valuable to me because I want to learn from experienced teachers. I am very excited to learn new ways to engage my students while teaching remotely. I am hopeful that we will not be remote next year, but I learned that keeping a remote portion to my classroom allowed for absent students to remain on track even when they missed a few days. Any thing that helps me to better serve my students is extreme valuable!

* Hello all! My name is Wendy Hudson and I am a 3rd & 4th Grade Math Teacher and a 4th Grade Homeroom Teacher. I will be entering my 24th year of teaching for the 2021-2022 school year. I am hopeful that this course will allow me to be more comfortable with technology in my classroom. My students were able to easily adapt during remote learning and I feel that being a teacher for so long, I am "set in my ways" and I would like to be able to utilize new modes of teaching - technology included. I hope to be able to stay up to date with new advances in the technology platforms and integrate them into my daily lesson planning.

What are your intentions/goals for your learning in the course?

Hello, my name is Kelly Thomas. This course will be valuable to me because I have had no experience designing courses or teaching online. I have taken courses online through the university though. I am working for the prison system, so this means our residents have no contact via the internet. With the past year being so scattered and hectic, I think having the ability to connect to students via an intranet could have been helpful to our instructors. I believe that I will experience new and exciting platforms that I had not tested out/knew about before, while also determining their usefulness towards the curriculum that I will teach. I think this will also prepare me for the new academic year, which will certainly be full of excitement, students and experimentation with technology!

2. What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course?
My end goal is to be able to take more risks in my teaching by experimenting with new technology/apps and construct learning objectives with said technology. Since I teach Literacy, I feel that is extremely important for me to be able to teach students not only textual and visual lit, but also digital. I also feel that I will be able to better relate to my students, by exploring how social media, apps and technology can be useful to their learning.

Hi everyone, I’m John Connor.  When I get back into teaching, I will know some tools and strategies for online teaching.  I am currently an at-home caregiver, though some day I expect to be back helping students learn either in a brick-and-mortar building or online.  I want to keep pace and demonstrate to students, associates, and administration that I am up to the challenge.  What I’ve learned from colleagues this week has been eye-opening at times!  I believe this course can help me collaborate better for future online teaching.  

2.     What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course? 
 One intention is to see learn about some of the best websites, apps, and other tools available for use with students.  Another is to learn to communicate equivalently and be better understood online. Finally, helping students self-regulate better online (and in the classroom) is more and more necessary today than ever.

Hello! I am excited to be a part of this class. Although remote learning opened up some new platforms for me that I had no experience with, I feel like there is still so much more I could learn to reach my students. A goal would be to build a toolbox of different learning platforms, apps, and websites that I could use to interact with my students. Even if we are no longer virtual, they have spent so much time this last year on the computer, so we are going to carry over some of that computer use into the classroom.
