To what extent a combination of a structure and creativity can decrease the stress level of a mind and lead to productivity while giving equal opportunity of expression to all individuals in a community.

Creating a structure can reduce daily life stress such as a website that would enable a person to find jobs easily without giving interviews but only answering the specific questions and providing an evidence of his qualification, rather than finding jobs through extreme effort such as through people or searching through newspapers and pamphlets. This would make the life of the person simpler and would also grant him various opportunities. Therefore, productivity and innovation can lead to a less stressful life and would also incorporate various ideas. Stress among people results in problems such as headaches, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma, arthritis, depression, and anxiety. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) declared stress a hazard of the workplace. It can also lead to depression in some cases which can lead to slow death. Therefore, products like stress balls etc., are used to relieve stress. This is how productivity can lead to equal opportunities and a decrease in stress.

Find answers for the inquiry Questions and how can you relate SOI with key concept and related concept

| Factual: | What causes lack of productivity? What are the positive and negative impacts of an environment? How does relaxation and play improve creativity?

One of the major factors affecting lack of productivity and creativity is health. Health plays an important factor in bringing out the persons creative side. Lack of sleep and an unhealthy or an unbalanced diet does not allow the brain to function and develop new ideas. The surroundings and the environment in which a person lives is also a major factor in increasing or decreasing a persons productivity. If in a region, there is unfair job opportunities, then the person is not able to get a job which is his right.
Negetive impact:
Communication: communication is important in the function of leading. In a work environment where communication is not something which highlighted and practiced, productivity can be really challenging because without communication collaboration can’t exist.
Positive Impacts:
If a work culture that employees are excited to be part of is established, they’ll be happier with their jobs. Happier employees are more likely to exceed expectations, meaning an entire office can get more work done.

| Conceptual: | How can your environment impact the way you think? How can a designer influence productivity?

The environment can encourage or discourage interaction among people. For some people less interaction is a factor towards depression which changes the way they think, they act, they respond. The environment can influence people’s behaviour and motivation to act. Impacting people’s behaviour can lead to social impacts and impacting motivation can lead to change in productivity, stress and creativity. The environment can influence mood. When our mood is influenced it changes everything from our day to day thinkings to health problems.

| Debatable: | Should work places, schools, and/or communities promote creativity, relaxation and play?

Yes, schools, work places or communities should promote creativity, relaxation and play. People should encourage creativity among children as it helps students to be innovative and also encourages them to learn new things. Students can grow up as good communicators in addition to improving their emotional and social skills. Increasing relaxation and productivity in communities and work places can transform the way people acquire education and how they apply it in their real life. It enhances their capability.

1. Need / Purpose:

Books and puzzles are known to be the source for the development of creativity, productivity and knowledge. But not all the people have the privilege or inclination to buy board games, puzzles or books that could enhance their capability of being creative and productive while at the same time enjoying and having fun. Slum areas or communities with people from all walks of life and mixed socio - economic backgrounds are not able to get enough books and puzzles due to their economic status. Only people with a high financial status can buy such creative puzzles and books for their children and for themselves. Therefore, in order to enhance the creative side for the people who cannot buy these, I am making this project.

2. Problem Statement:

The problem for this project is that the have - nots do not have access to books and other mentally challenging creative resources like puzzles that would improve and develop their creativity and productivity in a fun filled stimulating manner. Therefore, my goal bridges the gap between the “haves” and the “have – nots” through fairness and development.

3. Goal:

My goal is to design and create a free library in the form of a small compartment along with a table with board games according to different age groups. The books will be donated by me and I would also ask for some donation. The books would be in two languages – English and Hindi. I will design puzzles myself according to different age groups.

4. Link to the Global Context:

The global context for this unit – “Fairness and Development”. My project is linked with the global context as by creating a free library and free puzzles for a community comprising of people with different financial classes, it would make it fair for everyone to use the library (Fairness). The books and the puzzles that I will put in my project would enhance the persons mental capacity, creativity and productivity, thus developing the brain (Development).

5. Audience / Client:

The audience for my project would be all age groups as I will be making separate compartments for books and puzzles for different age groups. And, the client for my project would be the President of the community which I have chosen. I will interact with my client and show him the various designs and ask him for the best place in the community where I should set up my project. The community which I have chosen is Mandakini Enclave in New Delhi. I have chosen this community as there is a range of people with a variety of financial classes. This community consists of middle-class people along with daily wagers.
