This court case ruled that the freedom of speech could be limited or restricted if the words were expressing danger. In fear of a new war, people could not express anything that would go against the country. This limited the first amendment and freedom of speech. 

Japan had a lot of power and land, but not many resources, so they decided to invade Machuria for more land. They wanted to make up for the lack of resources they had. 

Between 1935 and 1937, Congress passed 3 neutrality acts. These acts were created to keep the United States out of the war. These acts made it illegal to sell weapons to other countries but were eventually changed to allow the United States to sell weapons if the country provides its own shipping and transportation. 

German troops invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. This is what started WWII. Soon after, France and Great Britain declared war on Germany. This invasion was a sign of how Hitler wanted to start war and gain more territory. 

The Cash and Carry plan was invented by FDR. This plan preserved neutrality while aiding and helping the allies. This plan allowed allies to buy weapons from them as long as they paid for them in full and transported them on their own. 

The Lend-Lease Act said the U.S. government could lend or lease war supplies to our allies. This was a very successful act. It was made to help defend the United States and did a great job doing it. 

In June of 1941, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 8802. This order banned discrimination in the workplace. All states were told to strictly enforce this and follow through with the new order. 

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a suprise attack by Japan. This caused the United States to declare war on Japan. This officially entered the US into WWII. 

Executive Order 9066 authorized the military to exclude people from the military and war. This was designed to keep out people who were Japanese. During this time, people were very scared of Japanese people and did not trust anyone from the other side of the war. This Order kept out people and was discriminatory. 

In the battle of Midway, the United States Navy defeated a Japanese attack. This was a turning point in the war in the Pacific Theater. This was one of the biggest battles in WWII. The United States made a surprise attack on the much larger Japanese fleet. This was a huge turning point in the war. 

The United States landed on the coast of Normandy. They planned to attack Nazi-occupied France. This was the largest seaborne invasion in history. 

VE day is the day that Europe officially ended the war. The war would continue in Japan. But, this ended this war in Europe and was a big point for the world. 

Victory in Japan Day was on August 15, 1945. This is the day Japan officially surrendered and the war was over. They surrendered because of the atomic bombs and officially ended the war.

The United States dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These bombs were detrimental. The dropping of these bombs happened to prove a point to Japan and try to put the war to an end. Japan ending up surrendering and the war ended soon after the bombings.
