         <description><![CDATA[<p>Reading stories like Fry Bread with differing cultural Traditions.</p><p><br/></p><ul><li><p>The children's book, Fry Bread can be read aloud to the students .</p></li></ul><p>This provides an opportunity for students to learn about the traditions that Native Americans have and also provides opportunities for students to reflect on traditions that they have in their own homes and leads to sharing opportunities for students amongst their peers. Furthermore, it provides a source for visual diversity and makes connections with Reading and Social Studies. </p>]]></description>

This provides a learning environment conducive of students learning and then teaching other students through a presentation utilizing a digital format such as google slides, or traditional poster boards. This can be demonstrated with hands on activities, group work, or visuals. </p><p><br/></p><ul><li><p>Introducing a short story about pinatas to a class and then prompting them to work in a small group to research when they are used, what they are constructed of, drafting a drawing of one, and then finally constructing one as a group to use throughout the year for different class celebrations. This activity fosters differing learning methods where students can all be engages and take an active role. </p></li></ul>]]></description>

Providing alternative options for students to communicate their understanding in an important part of culturally responsive teaching.</p><p><br/></p><ul><li><p>Allowing students to either reflect in a journal entry, in a digital format or traditional format with pen and paper, or even recording a video on technology to share with a teacher to receive feedback. This provides an opportunity where students feel safe and comfortable while teachers can adapt to a communication style that resonates with student needs. </p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Offering readings associated to different cultural celebrations provides an opportuntiy to foster a multicultural classroom environment. </p><p><br/></p><ul><li><p>In preparation for the holidays and New Year traditions in the U.S. students can be presented with a short story or video about the Chinese New Year. Following the story providing a time for whole class discussion gives students an opportunity to share their own experiences and understanding. </p></li></ul>]]></description>
