• The children's book, Fry Bread can be read aloud to the students .

This provides an opportunity for students to learn about the traditions that Native Americans have and also provides opportunities for students to reflect on traditions that they have in their own homes and leads to sharing opportunities for students amongst their peers. Furthermore, it provides a source for visual diversity and makes connections with Reading and Social Studies.

• Students can listen to and read lyrics from a differing culture while comparing them to their traditional language.

This provides and opportunity for students to make a connections in a different language. This provides opportunities in comparing and contrasting, Social Studies, and Reading as well as Music and Arts.

• Students can be prompted to research a differing climate area around the world and provide how this results in cultural differences regarding clothing, foods, economics, and other traditions

This helps students make connections in Social Studies, reading, and even history.

• Sharing a story with a class associated with a cultural tradition and asking students to share traditions they have within their own family. This fosters a community where students can share their knowledge and understanding while reinforcing a level of respect for one another and enhance peer relationships

• Providing an opportunity for students to choose a differing culture to research associated to traditions related to rituals, jobs, clothing, and foods. This provides a learning environment conducive of students learning and then teaching other students through a presentation utilizing a digital format such as google slides, or traditional poster boards. Students leading discussion reinforces understanding, compassion, and respect amongst peers.

• Introducing a short story about pinatas to a class and then prompting them to work in a small group to research when they are used, what they are constructed of, drafting a drawing of one, and then finally constructing one as a group to use throughout the year for different class celebrations. This activity fosters differing learning methods where students can all be engages and take an active role.

• Allowing students to either reflect in a journal entry, in a digital format or traditional format with pen and paper, or even recording a video on technology to share with a teacher to receive feedback. This provides an opportunity where students feel safe and comfortable while teachers can adapt to a communication style that resonates with student needs.

• In preparation for the holidays and New Year traditions in the U.S. students can be presented with a short story or video about the Chinese New Year. Following the story providing a time for whole class discussion gives students an opportunity to share their own experiences and understanding.

• Implementing a Flat Stanley project where students can send theirs all over the world and receive feedback from recipients and then documenting these on a map in the classroom provides a learning experience that fosters a multicultural environment.

• When discussing professions around the world one can use job titles free of gender. For example use Firefighter instead of fireman or Salesperson instead of salesman.

• Sending communications home to families in their native language fosters a level of respect, validation, and care for students and their family. Additionally, teaching students in the classroom short and appropriate communication phrases to speak with a peer can also do this.

• Organizing and implementing a field trip to a local organization that fosters different cultures. For example a funeral home in a community that implements different celebrations of life based on cultural traditions.

• Communications with families and community members and organizing different cultural experiences in stations for families to explore differences that everyone can share their experiences and learn from one another builds a strong inclusive community.

• Researching and implementing connections between families and interpreters in the community to establish strong communications helps to build respectful and meaningful relationships between educators and families.

• Having a community member that runs a business such as a restaurant that specializes in Mexican cuisine share their experiences with students and families builds lasting and meaningful connections between the school, district, and community organizations.
