Also, I designed some intergenerational programs and activities for senior residents and preschoolers, particularly, exercise related and art activities.

From the beginning, after we agreed all the overall concept of the project, I have done my three main parts, as a designer:

The website design was initially inspired by the fun nature of children and the wisdom of senior residents. The design will be shown the playful features (Parallax) on the mature colour themes (Corporate look and feel).

My role is to find the stories and information that will educate the children about the past lives of the nursing home residents that will build engagement and understanding between the children and residents.

It is also my role to explain why these choices were made and how they will benefit the participants and society.

• Nursing Home Day: This event invites community members to see the outcomes of the 'Kindy in Nursing Home Project". Parents, Councils, school students and teachers, local business owners, and residents' families will be invited to this one-day event. The activities could include a dancing show, poetry, lunch, cooking show, stage performance (Kids, the elderly, and staff), singing etc. The event would showcase all activities to the community, and float the possibility of a discussion about the benefits of merging a preschool centre and nursing home or expanding the event to other centers.

A range of activities have been designed to be inclusive of whichever nursing home residents wish to participate, regardless of abilities or disabilities. It is envisaged that groups of children will visit the nursing home on a fortnightly basis, with return visits to the kindergarten by the elderly.

This will build understanding and provide a fun interactive learning medium for the children to learn about the past.

Examples of games will be Group Wii games and classic games such as marbles, hopscotch, and the myriad of improvised games typical of the time.

One great aspect of this will be to show the children the ingenuity and improvisational skills the elderly possessed as children.

Using the assistance of a theatre group we will use group performances to encourage interaction between the participants and to tell their stories. 

There will be a mix of short real stories from the residents lives, real historical events and classic fictional plays. These stories will be adapted for the stage by the theatre group and the residents prior to the event.

1. Font Choice: Only one font combination to make the wep page readable on the desktop computers and portable devices, Best choices will be Arial Narrow font for the text and headline will be Arial Black.
   
2. Colour Theme: I carefully picked a three-tone colour, including navy blue, light blue and light brown.
3. Compatibility: Our website will be compatible with mobile devices such as iPad, Android Tablets, and smartphone.

5. A Sense of Consistency: All the online products on every platform and other kinds of other offline printouts will be consistent in terms of design with logo, colour theme, and font family.
6. Elder-Friendly Interface: The entire wep page design will be easily accessed by the elderly

Project Role: Background research, Writing copy for any publicity material, Editing team-contributed material before publication, Interviewing participants and contributors.

A project like this involves convincing someone in authority to support and/or endorse the concept, and to come up with whatever money is needed. While we are not concerned with the actual fundraising, we do need convincing evidence why the project is a good idea. I will be doing some research on this to compile some compelling evidence for councils, nursing home operators, early educators and health authorities.

I will also create publicity material, press releases, news stories, interviews, and gather stories for inclusion in a memento-style document for the participants.

Interviewing the elderly participants, not only for their stories as relevant to the project, but for their impressions of the project, will be a part of this.

The nursing home residents who choose to participate benefit from their interaction with children throughout the day, both emotionally and physically as they play with the children. They serve as role models, renewing their sense of worth and simple fun.

After identifying suitable facilities, arrange a meeting with key contacts to discuss possibilities, visiting schedule and activities.

Confirm visiting times and activities are suitable for all participants.

Undertake a risk assessment.

Ask for suggestions about activities both groups might enjoy.

Organise transport for participants and interested parents or family members.

Promote via social and print media.

After each visit, discuss the outcome with participants and ask for ideas for improvements.

Reflect on the final outcome, and create a lasting record that can be shared with other potential project organisers.

For the a modern look and simplicity of web site's navigation, I was inspired by this great navigation bar. Our navigation will be designed by placing our own logo on the left-hand side, a horizontal grid design, a short description of each grid. Our background will be based on our colour-themed design in order to keep our design in unison.

Stories told will focus on the daily life of the residents but will include important historical events. 

The children involved will range in age from babies in kindy to older primary school children, and possibly even secondary school children, the subject matter of the stories will be tailored in consultation with the teachers and schools to be both, age appropriate and relevant to the curriculum.

Encourage empathetic social behaviours.
