For example, a scale says for every inch there is 1,000 miles. I would use a ruler and for every inch I could mark 1,000 miles between two locations. Something interesting i learned from latitude was that they are imaginary!  Something else i thought was interesting was the scale. I never actually thought about the scale in a way and never thought it was really important, but it seems fascinating knowing you can measuring the distance of 2 states.  Maps are important because without maps we wouldn't be able to find our direction through the city or town. Just imagine if maps never existed, everybody would be lost. Before i moved to Mead Es i actually went on a map to see where it was located!
