         <description><![CDATA[<div>William H Carney was a African american soldier who fought not only for themselves but also fought for other African american people. He fought for other African american rights because he wanted to end slavery. William was already free in Massachusetts but that wasn't good enough for him, his persistence and his will to fight was one to remember. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Carney was born on February 29, 1840 in Norfork Virginia Carney as a kid didn't have that much interest for being a soldier as a kid he wanted to be a priest of minister for his local church. William was born into slavery. His father saved enough money to escape his so and his wife where they lived in Massachusetts where he decided to fight for what was right in the civil war. William was a strong soldier but one day William at the battle of Wagner was ran through a storm of bullets which he got shot in the head, chest, arm , and leg but did not let go of the flag. This heroic deed earned him a Medal of Honor which made him a name to remember.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Medal of Honor was first awarded in the American civil war it's gave to a strong soldier. William was the first African american soldier to earn the Medal it's show how great of a soldier William is. The reason William was rewarded the Medal of Honor Because he was very passionate about other African american and did not stop even when he was struck by bullets. He was only one of 40 other black soldiers to receive the Medal.</div>]]></description>
