The Aboriginal groups that lived on the island we killed off by diseases or shock of conquest. Because the native people were struggling, Spanish culture, religions, and language were more prevalent. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1607 Havana became Cuba's capital. Spain built three fortresses on the island to protect it from pirates and enemies. By 1700, Havana held almost half of Cuba's population. Havana was on the coast, so it was a great area for military and protection to protect the rest of the island.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Approximately 400,000 slaves were imported illegally into Cuba to work on plantations to produce sugar. Many slaves in the city were able to buy themselves freedom. Major slave rebellions occurred in 1826, 1837, 1843, and 1844. Many Cuban slave owners wanted to keep there slaves even though other countries all over Europe were freeing their slaves. </div>]]></description>

Therefore, it failed to win Cuba independence. Later, on the verge of a second independence war, Cuban independence leader Jose Marti was killed. Which strained Spanish and Cuban relationships even more. </div>]]></description>

So, Cuba held Soviet Missiles on their land. Then, A US and Soviet agreement was put in establish. Which, ended the Missile Crisis and assured Cuba's protection from a military attack on the US. </div>]]></description>
