 Desks are arranged in rows, and each student is assigned a desk.  A round table with six chairs is available for working with small groups.  
 
 Additionally, a classroom library is located in one corner, with a rug and 4 four bean-bag chairs for silent reading.

The students do not enjoy the readings and do not relate well to them.  Consequently, reading has become one of the most difficult periods of the school day.

At this point, students struggle to maintain momentum working independently as well as during group work time.  When working independently, some students constantly seek reassurance from the teacher, while others lose focus, creating distractions in the classroom.

During group work time, one student in particular struggles to get along with group members, becoming angry, and saying inappropriate things.
