         <description><![CDATA[<div>1a) The area of contact between 2 surfaces and the force applied.&nbsp;<br>1c) When you are tip-toeing, the weight is all front part of the foot. Although the back of the heel has a much smaller area of contact, when you are wearing high-heeled shoes, you will land on your toes first which causes all the weight and pressure to transfer to the toes.&nbsp;<br>2) Pressure = Force/Area. When you where high-heeled shoes, although the force applied is constant, the area of contact between the floor and the sole of the shoe decreases. Thus, the pressure exerted on the sole on the shoe increases. Therefore, after wearing them for some time, your feet will start to feel pain. Hence, you will feel like changing to a flat-heeled shoe, which although the force applied is constant, the area of contact between the sole of the shoe and the floor increases. Thus, the pressure exerted on the shoe decreases, causing the feet to feel less painful. This helps as it will be more convenient than compared to worrying about having to bring two shoes along.  </div>]]></description>
