Personally, my parents wouldn't let me have social media until I graduated, so there could be some personal conflicts involved.

Pros: Social media and technology all together is a great tool that has helped students to comprehend and apply the instructional material that is being taught. In addition, teachers also benefit from social media by being able to share lesson and activity ideas. Social media keeps content and activities relevant, while also leveling the playing field; those who are more shy and apprehensive in class can share thier thoughts without hesitation.
Cons: Social media is a great tool, but when used in the wrong way it can be very dangerous. Many inappropriate ads can show up on websites distracting the students from what they should be doing. Adding on to that, online discussion boards aren't as interactive and it can be hard to tell exactly how a person is feeling due to the fact that they can hide behind the screen. Another disadvantage that the article mentioned is that most, if not all schools have social media sites blocked off which in turn makes them hard to access.

It allows us as educators to teach and reach our students in a variety of ways that wouldn't be possible without it. technology is a huge part of society now, so it's our job to incorporate it into the classrooms so they can connect what they learn in class, outside of class
Con: Social media is full of distractions and as one person (the teacher) it's almost impossible to monitor what all of the students are doing, especially as you are teaching.
