The war a huge negative impact on children. This is true because in the video it talks about how families where torn apart from each other/ separated. They also had to a side and participate in gun violence at a young age. This could have made the children crazy or insane due to things like PTSD. That is how the war had a huge negative impact on children.

According to the video it states," ...I keep hearing the sound of guns." This shows that the war had a negative impact because due to the war, children were forced to hear gun fire because they had no way stop the noise. The video also states, "I saw a lot of bad things, people being killed, there were only a few people left..." This had a huge negative effect on the children because at a very young age they were already seeing people die right in front of them, which was terrifying. So, the war had a negative impact on the Sudanese children because they were experiencing war life at a very young age.

Trauma is an emotional shock by witnessing a disturbing event, and children are almost guaranteed during a war to see terrible things. Siama states, " I saw a lot of bad things, people being killed, there were only a few people left...I keep hearing the sound of guns." This quote shows how Siama at a young age had already seen very frightening things that would leave her with trauma. The video continues to state, "Her mother says Siama hasn't been the same since she's arrived and isn't as sociable." This quote demonstrates how Siama has changed in behavior due to the war, which continues to indicate that the war has traumatized her. While most young children would be playing around, having fun and talking, Siama is instead by herself and not sociable. Furthermore, the video describes Siama as a displaced child. This means she has been separated from her parents/family. To most people family is special, and many people love their families. To be without a family/part of your family, at such a a young age can also be traumatizing. In conclusion, Sudanese children are faced with seeing horrors of war, this can have the negative effect of causing them trauma.

Although they were able to escape the war, the terror of the war still remained in their memories. In the video "South Sudan: Devastating impact of war on children's mental health," Siama Peter states, "I saw a lot of bad things, people being killed. There were only a few people left. I'm now tired. There's nothing I can do. I keep hearing the sound of guns." This shows how disturbed Siama was because of the war. She was still frightened and scared that she even still remembers the sound of the gunshots. In the video, the reporter states, "The horrors of South Sudan's conflict has left a mental impact on those living in the camps, especially the children." This shows that the children were very disturbed because the horrors of the war impacted them. Altogether, the war left the Sudanese children very disturbed.

War has a very traumatic and extreme effect on children such as fiamma. “Fiamma may have fled death when she came to this camp 3 years ago but she still carries the memories every day”. This show that fiamma is traumatized because even though she escaped the war the memories still haven’t escaped her. “While many children her age play outside 12 year old fiamma Peter perfects to stay inside in the family tent in the UN camp” This explains how the war makes her not want to live the way she should at 12. This describes how war can be very traumatic and extreme for children.

These children have seen terrible things that no one should ever have to see. For example Siama Peters stated, "I saw a lot of bad things. People being killed, there were only a few people left. I'm now tired and there's nothing I could do. I keep hearing the sound of guns". She fled her home and was very disturbed by the fighting that broke out. She is not the only one, there were at least 10,000 children that have went through these horrors. "the horrors of conflict has left a mental impact on those living in the camps, especially the children. Many witnessed homes being burned down and dead bodies as they made their way to refuge". This demonstrates the horrors that children witnessed and how it left them to be traumatized and emotionally disturbed. This is how the war effected Sudanese children

This can be shown when the text states “People here say displacement has led to teenagers attempting to kill themselves”. This shows how the children have been traumatized to a point where they don’t want to live anymore. This could also be shown when the text states “Fighting’s also led to the displacement of more than a quarter of the 12 million population, more than a million of them children”. This shows how a large percent of the Sudanese population has been traumatized, many being children. The video also says, “the horror of these conflicts has left many people in the camps with a mental impact” this shows that they all ended up in a very bad state after being in those camps. This shows how the war affected the Sudanese kids emotionally and mentally
