This image made me think of epidemiology because it's very true; although it's a joke it's true. It's considered an epidemic when an infectious disease spreads rapidly to many people. In class we learned about severity of a disease/condition. In the example of the photo, a person called about their possible disease/condition but it's just not enough to claim as an epidemic. But if it's something that we've never seen before, we have to document it and save it for a time when it pops up again.
See, I've always known things about epidemiology but I just tipped the edge of the iceberg. But that's exactly what epidemiology is. It's not just what you see on the surface; epidemiology is beneath the surface, through the cracks, and at the bottom. There's so much information that we have to consider when studying epidemiology: Natural history of disease (environmental factors, host factors, and timeline of events), measures of occurrence (proportions and rates), levels of prevention, types of study designs, how many people are at risk (relative risk and odds ratio), correct interpretations, evaluations, and much more. Epidemiology is the study and analysis of patterns, causes, and prevention to help control acute and chronic diseases in populations.

This image reminds me of epidemiology because it shows children filling their tank with clean water, reminding me of the cholera video showed in class. I think it’s sad to be seeing a cholera outbreak going on right now in my home country Yemen and not having enough of the resources available to them that are in surplus here in America.

This cartoon reminds me of epidemiology because it shows the relationship between incidence and prevalence. Prevalence increases as incidence is added to the population being studied.
It is easy to see that incidence is the new cases coming into the tub or population. Then prevalence is all the cases. Finally mortality is the leak or deaths

This is currently happening in LA and Ventura County. Thousands of people are being evacuated and many who live near by have to breathe in the toxic air that's being produced from the wildfires. On the radio people are describing the area as apocalyptic and are driving away from the area even if they are not apart of the evacuees due to poor air quality. This reminds me of epidemiology because of those that may develop lung issues or may already have asthma and this event is only exacerbating the problems some have. very devastating. I hope this ends soon.
