         <description><![CDATA[<div>Many people wonder why it is necessary to use technology in the classroom. I used to be one of those people, thinking that teachers, books, hands-on manipulatives and other resources are sufficient. That's how I was taught in school. However, we are not in the 1990's anymore... These days people don't just use phones at home, or desktops, or wait for the internet connection to work via the house phone. People use technology every day even if it's just to send a message.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>EDCO620 with Dr. Alain has been an extremely beneficial and interesting course, allowing us to learn about all the different educational apps we can use in the classroom. The only app I had already known about was Seesaw because I had an account as a parent for my son's school. Now, EDCO620 has made me feel like a rock star! I have learned about Socrative, Tagul, Padlet, Rubistar, Popplet, Canva, Edpuzzle, Prezi, Plickers, Grammarly, Flipgrid, Gizmos, Nearpod, Book Creator, Puppet Edu, Weebly, Showme and so many more! I didn't even know that many educational apps existed!</div>]]></description>

All these apps were new to me and I had to go to those websites and try things out for myself. <br>I would get so frustrated when I wanted to do something specific, but didn't know where to go or which button to press! <br>It is difficult to learn how to use an app unless there is practical implementation. </div>]]></description>

The are able to use an Ipad before they can use a pencil; as shocking as this may be, it's true. That's why we need to set higher expectations for our students and plan accordingly.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I never knew that technology knowledge could make you feel powerful, but now that is how I feel - I am a tech superhero! When I want to do a certain task on the computer, I don't just have one option for an app, I have many. I can brainstorm using Popplet, I can create rubrics for my Kg and Grade 1 curriculums, I can use Nearpod and Edpuzzle to flip a classroom, I can make a word map using Tagul and I can create presentations using Emaze or Prezi! Better yet, I can train my teachers to use these apps! My school wants to purchase Seesaw for all grades and I am so excited to teach my teachers how to upload materials, communicate with parents and create digital portfolios for their students! </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After sending a proposal to admin last year, they finally agreed to provide us with 3 Ipads per class. My teachers were worried at the beginning because they didn't know how to integrate the use of the Ipads in their lessons. I gave them some ideas, but even my knowledge was limited. Now, I am very confident and have so many new ideas about ways they can integrate technology in their classrooms. Not only can they download apps for the students to use on their own, but they can also integrate videos, audio recordings, drawings and critical thinking questions to enhance their students' learning.</div>]]></description>

The teacher can send a video to her students (flip his/her classroom) and ask them to watch it so they could have a discussion about it in class or create a project. Assignments may be done on apps such as Canva or Padlet in which students can draw, upload, or take pictures of things such as plants, animals, buildings etc. </div>]]></description>

Students who are 'intrapersonal' learners enjoy learning independently, and it's OK to allow them time on the Ipad or Tablet so they can practice their learning. The same goes for 'interpersonal' learners, who enjoy cooperating with others. They can be given a group task to do on the Ipad together, such as a video or presentation.</div>]]></description>

The teacher can create her own lesson video using Showme to reinforce the concepts of the lesson. Students can watch it and then use apps such as Khan Academy or IXL to practice what they learned. The teacher can also extend her lesson for those high achievers by asking them to draw what they learned or prepare a presentation about it. He/.she can also use Socrative to create a quiz to test their abilities.</div>]]></description>

This app can be very student-centered.
