The narrator noticed that Grant was shot with the Remington. The narrator is one of the boys. No other characters were present. The mood of the characters is shock, sad, and panic. Some of the boys are crying and some of the boys are “frozen” and unable to move. They are thinking how they are going to tell the police what happened. Who killed Grant? Some minor details that might be significant  later is knowing that they were possibly drunk and under the influence of drugs.
