Question: 1. What lines from the reading resonated most with you? Why? 2. How did annotating help you notice things that you may have not noticed if you didn't annotate?

1- The lines that resonate with me most are "Barren, silent, godless." and "each the other's world entire.". These lines in particular stand out to me because, while in the excerpt they are not near each other, they create a juxtaposition that contrasts the light of the bond between the father and son, and the darkness that circles them.
2- Annotating the text helps analyze things further so that one may reveal hidden truths and connections about the text.

1. The line that resonates with me is "He hadn't kept a calendar in years" it makes me think about how they have no clue how much time has past. 2. Annotating helped me notice new things because while searching what to annotate, I am breaking down the excerpt in new ways I have never done.

1. the line that resonates wih me the most is " Hi, Papa, he said
I'm right here
I know." i feel like this means so much more than just a couple of words. i feel as if there were no hesitation in his answer and that he can trust and be assured that his dad will always be with him.

2. Annotating helped me see connections between different parts of the text and helped me understand how the symbolism in the words make the words mean so much more than we would think.

The lines that stuck with me the most was “nights dark beyond darkness and days more gray each one of than what had gone before” annotating this shows me the use of polyestation when he says (and) over and over to show a continuous flow in a sentence it makes it more vivid this shows the theme of the story being dark and the world being forever changed being worst and worst daily while he fights to survive for his son and that the surrounding world isn’t getting better that his view on life is just dimming to a point of depression and complete darkness. Annotating helps show me what wasn’t present before and helps show why the author chooses to write in the way they do.

A line that sticks with me is “I’m right here” because I have certain people in my life who helped me through really bad situations and they stuck with me and pushed me through it. It just reminds me of my dad and others. Annotating helped me look deeper into the text, because, before, I would just read it and not pay attention to that type of detail.

The line that resonates with me the most is "each the other's world entire" because it reminds me of the relationship I have with my mom, she is my best friend and my entire world. Annotating helped me really focus on the poem and read deeper into it rather then just skimming through.

1. "The road was empty" and "each the other's world entire" resonate with me because it shows the loneliness of the journey but also the slight hope there is that they have each other.
2. Annotating helped me focus more on what I was reading and apply it to the bigger picture, which I often overlook when I am just reading.

"Shuffling through the ash" was definitely stuck with me because it is a beautiful line with not such a beautiful meaning. Annotating helped me go further into the meaning of the story. Before I would have never noticed all the key details.
