Who I Really Am Every time I look into the mirror when I wake up, I know exactly who I’m looking at and what I’m capable of. But I’ve always wondered what people thought of me when looking at me or thinking about who it is I really am. I wonder about what it is that first crosses people's minds when they think about me. Every morning I wake up, wash my face, and take a look into the mirror to reflect and think about what it is I want to try and accomplish or improve about myself. I am a person who only likes to move forward in life and take everything one step at a time. Those who are close to me will receive the same energy radiating off to them, but those who have no value in my life, I waste no time chasing. I am a simple man, I help those who help me, and those who don’t I don’t bother trying to please. I live by the same philosophy every day, and that is, don’t sacrifice your time and effort to those who don’t sacrifice their time and effort to you as well. I’ve always been one for surrounding myself around smaller groups. I find surrounding myself with large groups can become distracting and detrimental to mental health and being able to focus on myself. I believe that your life and mental health begin to go downhill once your priority becomes pleasing other people, rather than accomplishing whatever it is you want to accomplish. I surround myself with successful people in order to influence myself off of them and become as successful, if not, more successful than they are. But accomplishing so takes time, success doesn’t come overnight. That is also a difference I have from most. Many people don’t understand that in order to be successful you must work hard and understand that the results don’t come right away. Especially through these last couple years of my life, I’ve learned many lessons that have taught me that. Nobody is perfect and I’m the first to admit that. I myself have many problems that I believe I need to work on and try to improve to the best of my abilities. But this is exactly where that aspect of never giving up and surrounding yourself around the right people comes in. I know that if I surround myself with the right people and don’t stop trying to improve myself and change for the better, it will happen overtime I just can't give up on my goal of doing so. Many people who aren’t in that close circle of mine never really get the chance to figure out who I really am, so their mind goes on a journey and figures it out for them. If you look at me without knowing who I am, I'm just some tall white guy who plays sports, probably cocky, doesn’t think anyone is good enough for him, and is given this to him on a silver platter. But that right there, is where people are wrong. I’m just a normal kid who tries to improve himself every day that he can and never stops trying his hardest so he can hopefully give back to those who all helped him get there. I understand that some people are going to misunderstand me, some are going to dislike me, and some are going to even hate me. Nobody is perfect and no one is ever going to reach it either, but I make sure to try my best to get the closest I can possibly for the betterment of myself and those around me. The only people who are ever going to understand who I really am are those I keep close in my life. Those are the people that I'm going to surround myself with for the rest of my life and those are the people who are going to see the true me. Not many people will truly understand who I am or truly understand why I’m the way I am and I understand that. Hopefully this speech was able to help clarify that even on the smallest bit, the only true way to know me or who I really am is by being one of those people I keep in my life.
