They need their tusks to defend sometimes these animals are left suffering for no reason. It's almost funny how some humans take advantage of poor harmless animals. These animals are trapped tracked and killed just for two bones on their face. I think that there should be a place for them to be free and worry.

One method was building a massive base like on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest building in the world. Another method is to build the building in a spiral like Shanghai tower in Shanghai China. One other strategy is to leave empty space to allow the wind to pass through the building much better than a normal space like on the 432 park apartment tower in New York City. I think that strategies like these need to be used everywhere so tall buildings can be safer.

EF

The secret lives of Plants

Plants respond to sounds like bugs chomping on leaves. That sound causes them to secrete more chemicals that taste bad to bugs. Plants can also communicate by secreting chemicals, also. If bugs start to eat a sagebrush, it releases chemicals that tells the other plants to increase their defenses. Those defenses include chemicals that taste bad to bugs, and also physical responses, like making their tissues tough and hard to chew. Some plants even grow stiff hairs to keep insects away from their "skin." One plant that is very good at communicating is a tree. Underground, a tree's roots connect with fungi; that fungi is also connected to many other trees, forming a physical network which can be a highway for chemicals used to communicate. That includes call for help, which are almost immediately answered with nutrients or defensive chemicals. Trees also have families. The biggest, oldest trees have the most connections. They act like mothers, sending seedlings nutrients and take care of their families. Trees also have day and night cycles, like humans. They raise their branches up during the day, to catch sunlight, and then let their branches droop during the nighttime. Plants even could be called smart. they collect data and use the data to make decisions to their advantage. Studies even show that plants may have a memory of things like bug attacks or cold snaps. Says plant researcher Heidi Appel, "Don't underestimate plants!"
~~M.S

Each stop a bee takes, a bee unfurls its long tongue (proboscis) it works like a straw. It allows the bees to suck up nectar from the flowers. When bees sucks up too much nectar it makes it harder to fly, so for it to be a light load the bee releases nectar on to flowers that are down below. They release nectar from there bodies to make the journey a lot easier for them so they don't feel uncomfortable.
B.B

The article Game-Design Duo tells the story of the creation of a mobile game called Tilt: Quill's Quandary. The game was created by Noah Rosenfield and Danny Rivera, two men who also work for scholastic, making videos and games. The game took three years to design, with the jobs of creating code and graphics split between the two designers. This is important to me because of my interest in gaming and how games are designed. In my opinion this game sounds very fun and the way they designed it is very well planned and thought about.
L.C.

The article was about how scientists mixed graphene with silly putty and how it can conduct heat and electricity. It can also measure your pulse and blood pressure. I think it could help doctors and people allot because it measures your pulse and blood pressure. In the article it says that if you put i on a battery depending on how hard you push it can change the amount of electricity flowing thru it. graphene is carbon atoms arranged in a certain way to make it stronger than steel.
Sp
SB: Wow! Those are some interesting things it can do! What is graphene?

So in China one of the biggest places where ivory tusks are sold are making it so nobody can do this anymore. They are hoping this will save the endangered elephants so they don't go extinct. These elephants are from Africa. Ivory is used for piano keys, knife handles, decorations and more. This could impact me because I could go to see elephants some day but if this don't stop they will go extinct Dom L

Most of the ivory that people get off of elephants or other people that are doing the wrong thing. They go to china for trading. China is trying to make a plan to end ivory trading in china by the time 2017 is done. Elephants need their tusks to protect them selves from predators and for searching for food. Other nations need to crack down on illegal ivory trading to fully protect African elephants.
B.B

Scientist have made a type of putty , the mixed graphene with carbon that conducts electricity. Its can measure a persons pulse. When you put the putty on a battery pressing on the putty changes the amount of electricity going through it and when placed on the skin it can measure a person heart beat. It can eventually be used in medical devices to measure pulse and blood pressure. the reason this is helpful is because taking blood pressure and continually monitoring it is not easy to do this way will be less expensive and easy.

For years, African elephants have been hunted, and killed for their handy tools called Ivory tusks. They have been hunted down so much, that now they are on the brink of extinction. The most well known trading place for the elephants tusks is China. But recently, China has let out a statement saying they will end the Ivory trades in china by late 2017, in hopes of saving endangered elephants.

In complete honesty, I'm very glad that china has decided to make the claim to stop trading Ivory tusks. Everything has a life, and every life matters. Killing elephants for their resources just proves to show that humans are destroying the earth, and soon we have to pay for it.
~LB :3

This march is to not only celebrate science but also to tell government leaders that they should listen to scientific reasoning with evidence, as to not destroy nature. Most of the cause to march was brought when President Trump dismissed global warming and other scientific issues. This is important to me because I support the scientist that are taking action to protect the earth.
L.C.

What looks like bees pee isn't actually pee it's a sugary liquid collected from flowers. The bees that collect this are the females which are the worker bees. The bee sucks up nectar each stop to bring back to its hive. The bee does this by unfurling its long tongue that works like a straw. The honey stomach which is one of the organs in the abdomen that gets filled when the bee drinks the nectar. The bee has to make sure it doesn't have to much cause with a full stomach it can make it hard to fly and weigh them down. In order for the bee to lighten its load so that it can fly it expels some of the liquids from its anus.

~E.T
