         <description><![CDATA[<div>Starting point of birds. Previously; they used to be much larger, and were considered flying reptiles. They were the first flying vertebrates. Pterosaura previously lived on costal areas such as lakes. They are believed to be clumsy since they would lay their eggs on cliffs and islands, which may have been easy targets from predators. They were mainly carnivores and mostly fed on fish or smaller animals </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Sauropodmorpha's tail became much longer, putting it closer to the ground. (certain types of sauropodmorphas). Again, similar to the ornithischia, they also lived in lake and river areas certain types or Ornithischias also had larger protection or armour around their bodies. After their change, they no longer did. This group were also herbivores, just like Ornithishcias. Since they had longer necks, the only thing they really had to adapt to was getting their food from trees rather than grass, and also potentially being a bigger target to carnivores. They also lived in lakes and river environments. Flight was not possible.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Had a complete change in the wings. They evolved to no longer have them which was a vestigal change (only at the time, since they would come back eventually). There was also a bone in their foot that began on its journey of reduction. One other major change is that Ornithischias were now herbivores, instead of carnivores like the Pterosaurias. Since they no longer had wings, they had to adapt to the constant ground life. Ornithischias, are believed to live in similar areas as pterosauraias. Flight was not possible.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The size of the creature had shrunk overall, and their arms began to shrink as well. Previously it was mentioned that one of the bones in their feet were shrinking; but now that bone has gone away completely. This begins the process of them no longer having arms, which is what we see in our birds today. Also, for 2 of the now 4 bones, they are relatively the same size, where as before, one was signifigantly larger. This is also showing the evidence of the loss of their arms. The animal had to adapt to what are now its arms and were previously it's legs. This means having better balance on the 2 rear legs, and also learning how to put their arms to use for eating and grabbing things. Since they had arms, flight was still not yet possible. It is also believed that there was a complete change in their environment in comparison to the previous stages. The Heterodontosoridae lived in a more desert are, specifically in Africa, which is completely different than the last 3 stages of this creature.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Compared to the last stage, the arms are now beginning to shrink much more. As mentioned before, this shows evidence of the arms becoming a vestigal structure. The bones in the arm begin to shrink more and more; What once was the longest bone in the arm/hand, has now become the smallest, and in this stage, there are now only 3 bones, where as with the Ornithischia, there were 5. Again, due to still having arms, flight was still not yet possible. Similar to the last stage, these creatures also lived in Africa. But they also lived on other continents, such as Europe and North America. So for this creature, what once was found near water like areas, such as rivers and lakes, are now found in a variety of different areas such as deserts, floodplains and forests!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This stage is one of the stages with the most changes from the last. This is the first stage where flight was possible, but only when young. In this stage, the arms/hands were becoming smaller, but the bones were becoming more elongated. This is in preparation for what would become the joint of their wings today. The animal is becoming smaller and smaller and from this point forward, is now a carnivore(except for one stage, which is a herbivore). At this point now, they lived solely in the western side of North America. Its fossils are mostly found in areas such as Wyoming, Colorodo, and Montana, so scientists can conclude that this creature mostly lived in mountanious regions. One major thing this creature had to adapt to was the complete change of the structure of the arm. What was once potentially used to capture and eat food, has now become too short to even reach the mouth. The reason this creature now is compared to the Pterosauria, is due to the homologous structure of the wings/arms.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The structure of this creature is starting to look more and more like our modern day birds. Their size is one major difference though. They are more the size and shape of ostriches, and similar in the way that they both have wings, but flight is not possible do to their size. But this can be drawn to a homologous conclusion, both having a common ancestor due to size, shape, and wings.  Natural selection helped them to have stronger beaks which was used to crush things such as eggs, and shellfish. This can also mean they lived in a water type of area. (only an assumption) But we do know for sure that they lived in Asia, more specifially Mongolia. Compared to the previous stage, they most likely had to adapt to the change in the environment from mountainous regions, to water regions. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Although scientists are not completely sure, flight is believed to be a possibility for these tiny creatures. Compared to the size of the last stage, these creatures were especially small. they were only about 30 centimeteres, which is just barely 1 foot long! They no longer had such a strong beak, but rather had teeth. This meant they had to adapt to new foods. But this animal was a herbivore! They likely ate grass, and leaves due to them constantly being close to the ground. They are also believed to live in western China, which is not too far from the previous location of the creature before it. But there is a different in the enviornment. Western China is made up of mostly lakes and rivers, where as Mongolia is made of of mostly plains. So this creature had to adapt to the new enviornment, specifically the food. This could explain why they became herbivores.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This creature is the first that scientists are able to confidently say could fly. They lived primarily in what is now Wyoming, Kansas and Texas, which is a major change from before. Kansas and Wyoming are mostly mountanious region, and texas is some mountains, also with deserts. Since it lived in a more spanned out area, this creature was able to put its wings to good use thanks to the natural selection. They had great flight abilities and were able to carry themselves many miles. What was once their hand became they wing and its purpose had completely changed. They went form being able to use their arms to eat, to use it for flight. This can be considered a vestigal structure as the need for their arms could have decreased due to the change in the enviornment, causing it to turn into a different kind of structure that would be of more use.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>These birds are now able to fly over the span of thousands of miles, thanks to their size and wing strength. Their body size makes it easier for them to fly over greater distances, which is why they are found globlly and not just in one single country, like the previous stage. Depending on the species, birds can either be omnivores, herbivores or carnivores. It can be assumed this is because they live in a variety of different areas, and each area has different needs it can meet. But for the most part, they are omnivores. This is again&nbsp; because since they live in more areas, there are moe things they can eat. The structure of their wings is what leads scientists to believe there is a homologous structure, in comparison to the Pterosauria.<br><br>The enviornmental pressures on birds today are deforestation, and habitat destruction. My hypothosis for its future is that as deforestaion, the bird is going to live in areas that do not have as much human interaction such as secluded lakes and rivers. As for adaptations, this means most, if not all, birds will most likely become omnivores due to their surroundings. The ones that are strictly carnivores or herbivores will not find enough food to satisfy their needs, especially if they live in areas with many other birds. And if they do become omnivores, they will likely be eating worms or small fish, so if they do eat smaller fish, they likely are going to have to be similar to the flying fish, meaning they can hold their breath or even swim under water to get their food supply.</div>]]></description>
