In 'My Family Will Fight': One Cambodian Refugee's Check-In With ICE. An interview is conducted about immigrant advocates who are protesting ICE. Cambodians in MA were given a letter they will be taken into custody, and thy will be deported. Kim, a protester and apart of family who recieved these letters, are now in despair with no real direction to head. They have gotten these letters since their dad was once involved in a dangerous crime. Which is a target by the Trump Administration, since they feel they need to remove unlawful immigrants . This family must check in with ICE regularly, and they were granted another stay! Although this story highlights the problems thousands of immigrants are facing nowadays due to the government tracking down immigrants in our nation and "weeding out the bad ones". Which is unjust since they are stripping people from their loves in this great nation.

The beginnings of the Khmer Rouge Communist Regime rising in the eastern jungles of Cambodia started to gain popularity in the early 1960s. They were supported by boarder neighbors Vietnam, and more specifically the North Vietnamese Army. As well as the Vietcong, and the China Communist Party. So with these backings the Khmer Rouge after a coup was staged to overthrow their leader. They backed the elder, gaining enough power to win the Cambodian Civil War, and establish themselves as the power in the country by the end of the 1970s. After that they began to implement many things China was doing in their "Great Leap Forward". Which brainwashed the country since the Khmer Rouge were killing hundreds of thousands of their political enemies within their nation.

Until the 1980s the Khmer Rouge ruled in peace, but then they were invaded by a war hungry Vietnam who was backed by a world enemy in the Soviet Union. China and America backed the Khmer Rouge who had fled to Thailand for protection, to push back in Cambodia to recapture their nation. The war ended in 1989, where the Cambodian governments in exile, still held onto their seats in the United Nations. they then rebuilt the entire nation, renaming it to the Kingdom of Cambodia. Backed by a new party in the "Democratic National Union Movement". Setting the country in a good state.

Although from 1975 and 1994, around 158,000 Cambodians were admitted into the United States. 150,000 of these immigrants were listed as refugees of the war, and 6,000 entered as immigrants and the last 2,500 were specified as humanitarian and public interest paroles. All of these people were evenly dispersed and immersed into American culture and life. Giving them the best chance at obtaining the life they have always wanted.

Throughout a lot of Cambodias history they have known nothing but unpeaceful times of war and rage. So many of them wanted to escape the danger of war, son they would immigrate to the united Sates. Although the 1965 immigration law severely changed the amount of immigrants able to go to the United States. Since It became a more selective system. So many people suffered from this, and were not able to escape the danger of war.
