But without a doubt, the most complicated discrimination processes that seem to be eroding the most equal treatment in Spanish society are those that are associated with a minority ethnic or national origin. Ethnic discrimination is the one that most affects in quantitative terms its risk group, affecting 1 in 3 cases at some point in life.

Other causes of discrimination in Spain are because physical appearance, age, political ideology, religion, disabilities, etc. t should also be noted that in 1 out of 4 cases of discrimination occurs in Spain for 3 or more reasons.

Among all these variables, there are two variables that seem to have a greater explanatory capacity in attitudes towards diversity and equality: age and educational level. It seems that "broad tolerance" is especially represented in some of the most dynamic sectors of our society.

On the contrary, “intolerance” is more linked to sectors that may find it difficult to adapt to the profound transformations that our society has been undergoing in recent decades.

Light-skinned blacks believe they are superior and darker-skinned blacks allow them to act on this belief. "

As soon as the marriage for all bill was announced in September 2012, many Martinican Christians mobilized against a reform, which they saw as undermining their religious convictions. With this spiritual framework of action, they gathered many supporters. In a very religious society, the social legitimacy of the conservatives enabled them to bring together strategic material and human resources which made the movement more attractive. During the period of mobilization, some opponents of the Taubira law made violent and degrading remarks in the media against homosexuals that encouraged activists for sexual diversity to mobilize against homophobia. In a West Indian context rather hostile to homosexuality, this framework for action has not received as much social and political support as that of the conservatives, making it impossible to mobilize the resources necessary to bring together militants against homophobia en masse.

 

Sexual violence and sexism are baths used to designate acts of a sexual nature, committed against the will of any person, regardless of their gender, they are violations of human rights with a capital "H".

The situation of women is improving in society. Paradoxically, it leads to the discrimination of the latter bearing on many prejudices.

It is legitimate to wonder whether these acts of indecent assault stem from prejudice or discrimination, of a physical or psychological nature, committed without regard to women.

A woman would be considered a foundation of the community, but on the contrary would not be respected as an equal, depending on her position in society.

"Truth or Dare, come take up the challenge". This is the title of an evening that takes place this Wednesday evening and whose poster shows a pair of woman's legs with the thong dropped to the ankles.

The Fort-de-France nightclub which organizes the event refers to the famous game where participants have the choice between honestly answering a question or taking a pledge. For the feminist association Culture Egalité, the advertising messages chosen are openly sexist and clearly encourage the dangerous cocktail "Alcohol and Sexual Violence".

 

In Martinique, 17% of people are affected by some form of disability. This rate is close to that of metropolitan France (16%). Age is a determining factor in the appearance of a handicap. Access to employment for people with disabilities is particularly difficult, including for people with officially recognized disabilities. In their daily activities, people with disabilities are mostly assisted by one of their relatives.

There is no legislation or regulation at state level for social inclusion in Spain, let alone for the social inclusion of youth. There are rights, disseminated in different regulations, related to ensuring inclusion in Spanish society and the exercise of full citizenship. An example of this is the Spanish Constitution (Constitución Española), where the right to decent employment and housing is guaranteed (Article 35 and 47), as is universal access to the health system (Article 43). 

Currently, there are two Action Plans for social inclusion in Spain. The 2014-2016 Action Plan (Plan de Acción 2014-2016), developed from the Youth Strategy 2020 (Estrategia Juventud 2020), in its axis number 5 the strategy for the social inclusion of youth in Spain.

Some other institutions that deal with social inclusion are: el Defensor del Pueblo y el Instituto de la Mujer Y la Oficina.

 

KAP CARAIBE (Konsey, Aide, Prevansyion) is a 1901 law association born on July 14, 2012 in Martinique from the will of a handful of people wishing to change Caribbean mentalities with regard to homosexuality.

Its aim is to help the LGBT public (Lesbians, Gay, Bisexuals, Transexuals) and their entourage on and outside Martinique.

Still, in Martinique, associations fighting against homophobia or transphobia have much less means to deploy their actions. Founded in July 2012, Kap Caraibe "has a very small team, entirely made up of volunteers and with very little funding," recalls its dynamic president, Céline Faure. This does not prevent these activists from getting involved every May 17 to give shape locally to this world day against LGBT phobia. “We don't even have a local,” quips the president, who nevertheless wants to remain positive: “Things are progressing, but slowly. "

Fight against violence against women

An agreement between the prefecture of Martinique, the Union des Femmes de Martinique (UFM) and SOS KRIZ was signed on Thursday, March 26, 2020 as part of the "Sé yon a lot" plan. A listening platform for women victims of violence, their entourage and the professionals concerned is now in place.

2018 - Access to rights and care for people with disabilities and precariousness 

Issued by the Ministry of Solidarity and Health, the CNSA and the CMU-C Fund published a report last July on access to rights and care for people with disabilities and people in precarious situations . The report underlines the absence of accountability and collective mobilization in the face of those "left behind" in the health system; a finding which "contrasts with the efforts made by the actors in the field who are exhausted in a non-facilitating environment".

For the fight against discrimination, the "Art Moun" festival is a multi-disciplinary event bringing together multiple actors.

Urban Cultures play an important role notably through Hip-Hop.  Thanks to the values of this culture, it allows us to unite, to bring people together around artistic disciplines with strong messages.     

These events, which are still too rare on the island, allow us to transmit, claim, and debate on the problems of society .

At this moment, the barriers, the problems of skin color, generation ... are erased to give way to sharing, exchange, transmission, artistic discovery....

Martinique is full of talented artists. It is not always easy to export artistic work because of the expensive prices of airfares. This is reflected in the export of Martiniquais Art.

Well, when a young dancer wants to explore his abilities he is brought to develop his talent elsewhere, in Europe, in the United States...

-Colaboration with Moroccan Association of Málaga (Asociación Marroquí de Málaga). During the last years we have been giving empowering talks and dance workshops in their space to young Moroccans and teenagers.

-Event “Malaga Acoge”: It is an integration program organized by some organization in the city of Málaga and the city government. ECB collaborated in a day event with a dance workshop.

-Social work in Lagunillas neighbourhood. ECB used to teach in this neighbourhood where most of population are of gypsy ethnicity and many at risk of social exclusion. Also, during summer we used to bring the young people out of this neighbourhood and bring them  the city centre to do a tour. The tour ended at the cultural center, El Artsenal, where we gave a breaking class.

-Projects with Iniciativa Internacional Joven “Uafolk”: Urban arts projects as a way of social transformation with the association Iniciativa Internacional Joven.

-Wompowerday 2018/19: This event was made to improve the visibility of women within HH culture. It was exclusively organized and energized by women 

In addition to managing the MD Company dance troupe and coaching dance classes (schools, associations, cultural structures), VERSION HIP-HOP has already provided several major events:

-        Two Open Days on Hip-Hop Culture, a first in the Caribbean (1997 and 1999);

-        Eight festivals on hip-hop culture "CARAÏP'HOP" between 1998 and 2019, bringing together artists from Martinique but also from all over the world.

-        "Break 4 Fun" battles in different municipalities on the island (from 2005 to 2013, then in 2017).

The association aims to promote hip hop culture. In order to respond to this founding idea, we implement different actions on stage (creations of choreographic shows) and outside the walls (battles) while paying particular attention to transmission through artistic awareness actions (workshops, courses aimed at young audiences during school and extracurricular times).

Moreover, she says, that “it is significant to highlight the need to work on the emotional dimension with young people at risk of social exclusion or vulnerability who have been or could experience adverse situations. Accompaniment is important, in our case from an indirect and symbolic language typical of artistic expression; helping them to highlight positive aspects of their personalities and characters. After all the research and learning process, it can be affirmed that dance in particular, improved the quality of life of the young people where the project was developed; on a physical, mental, communicative and social level. At the same time that it worked and promoted resilience in the participants, a fundamental tool for overcoming the human being” (Anna Mundet Bolós, 2015).
