Standards and ILOs Self-Analysis (5th-6th Grade; Wk 2) by slabarge

What standards are you most confident in teaching? Which standards or objectives were unknown to you? How are ILOs incorporated into your lessons? Which ones seem difficult to include? Other reactions, thoughts, questions, and ideas?

Sarah- ILOs and Curriculum

I love how nicely they fit together. It's sometimes hard for me to teach the ILOs about how everyone is a scientist or how to get them to ready science texts on their own. Any ideas? I love how a lot of times the ILOs are already imbedded into the curriculum standard- like carry out an experiment or write a research paper. I definitely struggle with the physics unit because it is at the end of the year, right up against CRT tests and I just have to teach the big ideas and we take care of details after the test. I think I might try Tasha's idea to do an independent research project on our physic concepts so they are better prepared for the CRTs and I can incorporate in class and outside of class learning.

I am most familiar with the weathering and erosion objective because that concept is also part of the fourth grade core that I am familiar with. I am not confident at all in teaching the 5th grade core because I have little experience with the 5th grade science core. The ILO's are easily incorporated with any lesson if teachers integrate them with content. Most of the time, the ILO's are taught as a result of quality teaching.
