I think would be useful to understand what queries the library staff on the front desk currently receive e.g. how to book the shared study spaces as we might receive similar queries from students.

I think it looks really good, hoping for natural light but the space looks opening and welcoming for students. Agree that a better partition should be made between the hub waiting area and study space, so students feel safe and not too exposed.

Hot desking

Already been raised in the meeting, but I'd be concerned about hot desking. I don't think hot desking improves productivity and can negatively impact staff morale. It's also difficult to manage around DASS equipment. Many people have ergonomic equipment that shouldn't be shared with other people. Where would they put this equipment at the end of each day? Please can we avoid hot desking where we can?

Hot desking wouldn't be appropriate for staff with DASS equipment, nor in instances where particular staff members need to sit near each other due to DASS needs. For H&S, all staff members should have their desk/chair/monitors adjusted to them specifically anyway, and having to readjust our set up every morning would be a huge waste of time. In a more general sense, I think it's important for staff to have their own desk. It provides stability and familiarity/connection, which subsequently reduces anxiety and improves team morale. Hot desking is disruptive both in the sense of everybody having to find a desk every morning, and in the sense of the lack of day-to-day consistency.

Colours

I know this sounds ridiculous but paint colours will have a huge impact on the mental state of anyone coming in and the teams working in there. Soft hued pinks are welcoming and can create feelings of warmth, serenity and calm and Blue/Green shades also evoke calmness and serneity so these might be some good options. Please definitely not brand appropriate purple and yellow! Although lavender is good for balancing and relaxing benefits and does match the "200" on the lovely badges we all got last year! A white soulless box would not be welcoming for students or staff!

Meeting room spaces

With the amount of meetings that we have I'm a bit concerned about lack of rooms for team meetings, 121s, online meetings (if need a private space). It was mentioned that out of the 6 glass group meeting rooms only 1 of these would be for staff, or are we able to use the other 5 as well?

Good desk chairs for hub desk!

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I know that for myself having spent a lot of time on the hub that the chairs we currently have aren't fantastic (especially for those with back pain/health conditions). I know plenty of us have ergonomic chairs at our desks, so it would be nice to have something similar on the hub

Natural light (again)

i do think natural light is incredibly important, especially with such long, dark winters. For many of us doing 9-5 we'll see almost 0 sunlight in the winter when we're on campus with our current office/hub set up, and this can have (and has had) massive impacts on both physical and mental health.

in addition the typical harsh office lighting can cause a lot of issues with headaches/migraines, sensory issues, etc

Perhaps we could have a shared notice board to put posters of upcoming events, staff networks, wellbeing info etc. Pictures on the walls would also be lovely to avoid the office looking drab and clinical
