My relationship with reading is not very good though. Especially as a college student, I get really tired of reading all these textbooks sometimes. It makes e kind of hate reading. My mind feels so dull sometes after reading these insanely long text books with all this information. Even while skimming I get bored of it so fast, but I don't have a choice so I force myself through it and it makes me not like reading so much.
My relationship with writing is pretty good. don't have ay negative feelings towards writing and I don't think I ever have. Sometimes when Im writing whether its a card for someone or a paper. There are times when I get in the zone and the Ill reread my writing and be proud of myself for writing something like that. I mainly text and my platforms for when I do write things like papers or notes is either my iPad or laptop.

At the moment my relationship with reading has very mixed emotions. When it comes to novels and books, I really enjoy them as I've recently picked up reading for my own pleasure instead of just for schoolwork. Due to this, I've started associating reading books with feelings of relaxation and enjoyment. On the other hand, when it comes to reading articles or other documents, I find myself dreading them as I associate that activity with work. In the past, reading articles has always been done to finish an assignment which is why my disdain for them still follows. Nowadays I mainly read fiction as a source of enjoyment. I would either read them through a physical book or sometimes I would download a digital copy onto my Kindle.
Currently, my relationship with writing tends to lean towards the negative side. When I hear the word writing, my mind always resorts back to memories of writing essays in school. Writing assignments back in high school was not something I was particularly looking forward to. My feelings are slowly shifting as the bulk of my writing nowadays comes from texting and writing to friends that are reinforced by positive feelings. In the earlier days of school, the tools I used to write were pencil and paper but as time progressed it shifted to computer and Google Docs. Most of my writing is now done through either my phone or computer.

My relationship with reading now is inbetween positive and negative. I enjoy reading and making time for it, but I recently I haven’t done so. Therefore, reading has become sort of a burden for me because of how much I procrastinate it. Although, personal genres I’ve like to read would be mystery or drama. Kinds of tools I like to use is notetaking on sticky notes, especially when reading a hard, physical copy. As well as the internet to search up terms or vocabulary I don’t quite understand and would want to get a better understanding.

My relationship with writing right now would be seen in a positive way. I think this is because writing is a bit more simple for me because it’s just the process of ideas flowing through my brain which is always happening in my mind 24/7. However, since coming back from school, writing has been a bit more “foggy” because I haven’t written in a while and need to get back into my academic lifestyle.

I went to Shields Library for the first time a couple of days ago and I checked out a book I've been wanting to read. It's called On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. If I'm reading on my own I use it to discover myself and heal. I think reading just gives meaning to my life and makes me look at situations and thoughts more deeply. Reading a good book is really like watching a good show or movie. The last book I read in High School was Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin and I'm glad I finished the year with such a speechless book. In terms of writing, I like writing down my thoughts but sometimes when I need to write academically I have a hard time processing what I want to write. Or I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words while also sounding articulate. Writing is more challenging to me than reading because when reading the thoughts stay in my mind, whereas with writing I'd have to put them in words.

My relationship with reading at the moment is better than before. This year, I have started to read novels again in my own free time. I would only usually read novels when I was assigned one at school, but I just suddenly had an urge to read, so I decided to buy some books that I've been wanting to read for a while. I still struggle to read textbooks and any other text because my brain tries to skim through everything instead of processing it. I'm hoping I can get better the more I read during my time here in college. Usually, when I read, I try to listen to classical music, so I don't hear any outside noises, and I can also hear something instead of silence when I read. My relationship with writing is very mixed. When I get the chance to write about something I am interested in such as a certain movie or show, I get excited because it is a way for me to talk about something I like without actually talking about it. However, when I have to write for school, I usually dread it because it usually isn't about a topic I want to write about, so I either write just to get over it or get stuck figuring out what to write about. When I write, I usually always use Google Docs, since that is what I was taught to use since I was in middle school.

My current relationship with reading is between good and bad. I used to read a lot during High School but at some point, I stopped. My favorite book was The Fault In Our Stars, mainly because it was so detailed that I could picture everything in my head. I would say I have positive associations with reading if they're about something I'm interested in. I love to read books, if they're about things I can relate to even better or quote books. Like Milk and Honey, I would say that is my second favorite book because of all the quotes I could relate to. My relationship with writing is really good. I have always loved to write, especially creative writing. During freshman year of High School, I started journaling and ever since I've loved it, it's part of my life now and it's where I can express myself and let go of the things that have or are bothering me.

My relationship with reading has deteriorated over time. When I was younger, reading was a huge part of my life. I would take trips to the library with my parents and had the liberty to pick all the books I wanted to read... and I read them! However, as I grew up and became busier, reading trickled out of my life. It became less of a pleasure and more of an occasional chore for school. However, reading for school is very enjoyable for me. I love getting to read classic novels and sharing my opinions on them with a group of people. When reading, I use certain strategies that make reading easier for me, such as rereading, slowing down, and even sometimes annotation.

As for writing, I definitely enjoy it more than reading. Especially when I am fond of the subject I'm writing about, I have a great time. I usually write personal journal entries or letters to my closest friends and family. Oftentimes, I am required to write for classes (as I am doing right now), but I definitely prefer to write when I choose to on my own time. I also prefer to type rather than write by hand. Growing up I fell into the habit of holding my writing utensil in a weird manner and it causes my hand to cramp WAY too easily, so I much prefer to use the computer or even my phone.

My current relationship with reading at the moment is neither good nor bad and I do not possess positive or negative feelings towards it. I personally enjoy reading books that are based on personal growth, such as mental health books and mindset-improving texts. Although I read these types of texts, I have not been actively reading at the moment and it has been difficult for me to hop back on track. As a college student, it is difficult to be on top of various reading assignments making me dread my work, yet I still push myself to complete it. While I read, I seek for various resources to help me understand a text. I make informative notes on the margins or look up vocabulary terms I don't understand. I look forward to improving my reading skills and to hop back on my academic track.
My relationship with writing is personally great for me. I am used to writing much more than I am used to reading. I would say I have positive associations with writing as of this moment. I enjoy journaling about my personal feelings in order to document growth and strengths or weaknesses that I may go through. Aside from writing in my personal time, I am used to writing in my academic life as well. Throughout high school, I was exposed to various writing assignments. I have enjoyed writing, although I have not done so in a while. I usually don't use many tools since I like to write what is on top of my mind which I find creative. I do have to mention that I am quite nervous about college-level writing and hope to do well.

I don’t think I am a person who loves reading, feeling negative while reading. The only reading which I would prefer was reading textbooks for my class, assignments and exams. Additional reading make me feel uncomfortable. When I read the textbooks and the writing articles from assignments, I would take some simple notes, highlighting and writing some understanding of myself. Maybe now I realize the importance of reading more, because my poor reading experience really hinder my learning.

But talking about my writing experiences, I wrote a lot in my high school. I think I may have a positive associations toward writing. Writing two essays and a lot of small papers (six 1500 English words paper and many 2000 Chinese writings), I think I am confident in writing articles. But these are works or assignment that are required. I may regard myself as a lazy writer because I’m always thinking about finishing the minimum requirement quicker. I used some tools to writing, including the basic word, grammarly, and a translating application.

My relationship with reading could either be a hit or a miss. I do like reading but I have trouble finding the perfect book. When I was little I didn't really like ready and my parents would make me read. So I think that might of caused to not want to read at all. But when it came to reading books in school I hated it. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the book. And when there was a book I didn't like it was so hard for me to understand what's going on or how to even a write an essay on it. But I do love a good mystery book with drama and books with a lot of exciting plots get intrigued to keep reading. My relationship with writing is not the best. I feel like I'm a weak writer especially because I have so many ideas but don't know how to grab all those ideas from my head and turn it into a well written essay. But what helps me when writing is organizing my thoughts and writing down my ideas as I think what my next main point is going to be. All of my writing has been done on google doc ever since I was in middle school.

My current relationship with reading is very negative at the moment. The times I actually end up reading a book, text, or story is when it has be assigned to me by a teacher or professor. I don't read any books outside of class because I have found reading boring through out the years. Teachers and professors assig boring readings and when the reading it takes me hours just to read one paragraph. School has accustomed me to believe every book out there is just the same as the boring readings teachers assign. But as my relationship with writing I can say it's positive. I love writing my own personal stories, journals, and diaries on my laptop or the notes app on my phone. When writing it allows me to lay out my feelings for only me to read. Writing has become a form to relive stress.Even though my relationship with writing is positive I still struggle with writing academic essays I seem to repeat my words and can't come up with new ideas.

1) Although my relationship with reading has had its ups and downs over the years, my current feelings of reading are now associated with feelings of exploration and fun curiosity. Since reading novels in high school based off of significant historical events such as Night and To Kill a Mockingbird, I've started to realize how passionate I am in engaging with these types of books relating to real life experiences, hence why I've also turned to nonfictional books or online articles written by modern political figures to read in my spare time. Although sometimes emotional, that's what makes the experience so exciting for me. Some habits I've relied on over the years include rereading parts of a chapter or even going back to earlier sections to try to put together connections almost like a puzzle.

2) Writing has and will forever be a safe haven that I can regard as my positive escape from everyday hassles. Writing appears everywhere in my life, whether it's a series of texts I'm constantly sending with close friends or the journaling of personal goals that I write for myself every week or so. Ironically, one may think that it would feel more like a chore than a fun escape to have to write about goals and self improvement. But because I've gradually become more creative with my goals and even sometimes provide detailed reasoning upon my reflections, my view of writing is nothing more than something overwhelmingly positive. These series of notes usually take place on my personal devices like my iPad or MacBook.

My relationship with reading right now would be poor. I do not typically enjoy reading books or articles because it is difficult for me to focus on one reading for a long period of time. It becomes like a chore to me and would be the last thing on my bucket list. Whenever I get assigned reading sometimes when I read the words do not stick with me and I end up reading it a three or four more times to actually understand it. However, if I had to pick a genre to read, it would be fiction books. They are fun to read and I enjoy the creative stories that authors put together like the Land of Stories series. My relationship with writing is not amazing, but it is pretty good. I write everyday whether it's text messages, a journal or essay assigned for homework. I prefer typing than writing because my hand begins to hurt and I like typing since I can type fast on my phone. Writing in general is fun for me because it brings out a creative side in me that makes me think critically to combine certain words in a well-formed sentence. I used to have lots of writing tutors as well, so they have helped me become a decent writer with knowledge of vocabulary, structure and more. Overall I would definitely prefer writing over reading.

1.Reading is something that I have always been fond of. My appreciation for reading got to the point where I stopped caring about a cellphone and more about if I always had a book on hand. I would say my relationship with reading is a positive one, because regardless of what is going on in life I can always rely on a book to give me advice. Typically, I would read works of fiction or nonfiction. Specifically, pieces of philosophy, poems, and other literature that could be considered self-help.

2. My relationship with writing is hard to explain. Writing and I have a circuitous love and hate relationship. Although I experience enjoyment from writing, I struggle to convey my thoughts correctly. If it were up to me, I would write short stories that would fall under mystery and horror. However, I do enjoy writing about methods of research that could lead to medical breakthroughs. To do this I utilize annotations and other forms of comprehension.

I have a positive relationship with both reading and writing. My interest with reading has been reignited recently; however, I still would've said I had a positive relationship prior to that. I read "Supermarket" by Bobby Hall recently. It was a mind bending story. That is the first physical book I've extensively read outside of school in years. I read a lot on the former "Twitter"; It is now called "X". That's basically all professional soccer news. My relationship with writing has been positive for a while. Writing in high school English was never seen as hard. It was just the time factor that I didn't like about writing. When I get in writing flow state It flies by, and that's why I don't find academic writing painful. I like writing digitally and physically, but pen and pad is my favorite. When I write songs, I only do it on the "Notes" phone/Mac app.

My thoughts on reading and writing

Ever since kindergarten, I have seen writing and reading as a bit of a chore but that started to change around middle school. I had started reading books not just for the weekly reading summaries that we would do in class but for fun. All of the books I would read were fiction and they made me excited to keep reading. I would read either online books or physical ones. I love reading physical ones because my eyes don't hurt as much, and I love the weight of a physical book. During high school, my love for reading fizzled out and I started to journal as a way to get my frustration out. I would right down on a physical journal, and I would date each entry. Now as college starts, I have started reading more and continued journaling. I will say that the books that I have read are romance books, but I love murder mysteries. One example is a book that I just finished reading which is The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. It is a romance book with a STEM couple, and I recommend it to anyone that wants to read a romance book. As I said I do journal and I am planning on keeping that consistent, but I am planning to move it to a digital place, being my computer. In my opinion, it would be more convenient, spend less paper, and spend less time (I type faster than I write). That being said, when I have to do a reading/writing assignment, it gives me mixed emotions because a part of me is ready to get started but then a part of me knows that I will get stuck at least once during the assignment and become stressed out.

My Relationships with Reading and Writing

My relationship with reading is a good one. I might not read as much as others, but I dabble in it from time to time. I would say that I have a positive association with reading. When it comes to the content of what I read, there are a few genres. I am very fascinated with science and chemistry. I enjoy reading articles about topics such as astrophysics and quantum mechanics. I’ve been fascinated with these topics since late middle school or early high school. I also enjoy reading about the automotive industry and engine mechanics every so often. History is also very interesting to me. I love anything about history, but my favorite would be studying different wars and the political leadership of nations during war. The final genre I enjoy would be discussions about financial literacy and real estate. My favorite book of this genre is “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki. The main tool I would use for reading would be audio books. Especially for science topics. Sometimes I can’t pronounce a lot of those words.

When it comes to writing, my relationship is a little less involved in it. I would still say that it is a positive association; I don’t dislike it. The kind of writing I enjoy would be research papers, specifically about history. I love history, so I feel that I’m able to express myself more when writing about that topic. I also love script writing. Creating my own stories in a format where I can continuously expand or subtract from it is truly liberating. To construct characters from the ground up and give them their own personalities and lore is very fun. I get to decide how the story progresses and express my emotions through my characters. I use a couple of helpful tools when it comes to writing. I love Grammarly; it’s incredibly helpful when it comes to spell check or my tone. I’m on the free plan so all I get are a few suggestions, but nonetheless, it’s still helpful. My favorite tool for writing is definitely the Thesaurus. I struggle a bit with repetition; I tend to use the same words often, so to expand my vocabulary, I go over to the thesaurus and find some synonyms for the word I was reusing.

I have a complicated emotion about reading. I actually hardly read ,no matter novels or textbooks, but if there is a book really catches my eye, I read it day and night until finishing it. I read textbooks, articles assigned from teachers, comics,(does that count) and novels. In novels, I used to captivate in sci-fiction that I read "Three body" day and night , even on the class at that time, but I get bored with it now after I found most of them use the similar plot frame ,the only difference between them is different background and setting, I hate that kind of things, they're just like the upscale plagiarism. I start to read some more serious literatures in my second year of my high school ,which is the same time that I had the literature course that had a huge impact on my reading. Here is the interesting thing, after reading the Macbeth, I found that some movies I've watched before have the similar plot as Macbeth, they just had different settings like the time of the story, whether it happens in future or now. I only had used Kindle for reading, otherwise I read paper books.
For the relationship with writing, I have a negative feeling on that. Except for messaging, I hardly write unless there are assignment about writing. I usually text on laptop and I don't really remember when was the last time that I wrote by using a pen.

My Experiences with Reading and Writing

My relationship with reading has trended generally good. The benefits of reading, in my personal experience, have been the connections I’ve been able to make through reading, and the passions I developed through the things I’ve read. I have loved fantasy since I was extremely young. I grew up on the fantasy shows and I was encouraged to read fantasy books. One of the main things that currently drives my father and I together is fantasy, and I owe that to the stories I’ve read my whole life. The only negative experiences I’ve had with reading have been when my reading ability has been compared to others. I didn’t necessarily struggle to read, but the quantity in which all of my reading partners could read was borderline outlandish. However, when this was hard I began reading regularly for time, and began to take less time looking up words and instead used the context to assist me.

2. My writing experiences have been slightly less pleasant. I often struggle with writing because your success in writing heavily relies on creativity and a true level of understanding and mastery I don’t yet have. In the past, I have felt very overwhelmed by the amount of moving parts that are in writing. The only time I truly feel comfortable in my writing is when it is for a D&D campaign or a in a situation I am familiar with. Book reports, lab reports, and short descriptions have mostly came easy to me, but literary analysis’s have taken me a long time to come anywhere near “understanding”. I have to thank my English teacher at the time for my eventual success. Without her help i wouldn’t have found the resources to help me improve. She advised me to look at examples of what I was writing and compare after each practice attempt, and in the end, I did improve.

Overall, I really do enjoy reading at its core, and while writing may not be my favorite, I can admit it’s had its uses. :)
