Group 2( Emily/Ashley) three symbols

Three symbols that are found in Act II of Macbeth are the air drawn dagger from scene 1, the knocking in scene 2, and the horses eating each other in scene 4. The air drawn dagger gives the audience a good representation of Macbeth's mental disturbance. When Macbeth is preparing to complete the deed of killing Duncan, he gives the dagger speech which takes place when he’s alone. The whole time, he’s referencing an imaginary dagger which exemplifies that his conscience is blurry (Shakespeare 2. 1. 40-68). In the next scene, Macbeth as already completed the deed which causes him to feel remorse. He becomes paralyzed from his actions, and he isn’t able to put the daggers back in the guards’ belts. He hears a knocking sound, but unbeknownst to him, it’s only in his head. This represents that Macbeth’s peace of mind is unstable (2.2.69-75). Towards the end of Act II, weird things begin to happen. It’s now known that Duncan is dead, and this is when things take a turn for the worse. Unnatural things begin to occur like Duncan’s horses eating each other after his death (2.4.16-21).
