In the article, the writer mentioned about companies in Japan that conduct classes on how to smile sincerely. Since many people have forgotten how to smile after years of wearing masks, these classes help them to work their facial muscles and lift their mouths.

The article shares with us many interesting facts like how smiling requires us to strengthen zygomatic muscles that pull down the corners of the mouth and that a useful exercise to improve our smile is to bite down on a straw. Smile training is seen as being important as it helps to improve the first impression we make to others and build self-confidence.

What did you find interesting as you read that article? Would you be interested to take part in such "Smile Education" classes? Why or why not?

In my opinion, classes on “Smile Education” is important to all society’s around the world as our faces has been hidden under a mask for the past few years and it is now time to show our smiles again. Even though the world has been suffering, I still put on a smile every morning knowing that time heals all things slowly but surely. As Heidi Klum once said, “ I believe that if you put a smile out there, you get a smile back.” So, who knows? Go out today! Put a smile on your face. And you could make someone’s day.

For people like you and me , wearing masks for an extended period during the Covid-19 pandemic might have led to various emotional experiences. Masks cover a significant portion of the face, including the mouth, which is a crucial part of non-verbal communication, such as smiling. The inability to see facial expressions clearly, including smiles, may have made some people feel like they've "forgotten to smile."

Moreover, the pandemic itself has been a challenging time for many, leading to feelings of stress, anxiety, and isolation. The masks, while essential for public health, may have contributed to a sense of disconnection or emotional detachment, as facial expressions are an integral part of human interaction and emotional understanding.

However, it's essential to adapt and find alternative ways to communicate emotions, even while wearing masks. People have learned to use their eyes, body language, and verbal cues more effectively to convey emotions in a mask-wearing world. Additionally, some individuals have found creative ways to personalize their masks or use clear face shields to help maintain a sense of connection with others.

As the world navigates through the pandemic and its aftermath, finding ways to stay emotionally connected and express emotions effectively will continue to be important, whether through masks or other means of communication.

I think that it is very hard to smile after many years of wearing masks during the Covid-19 pandemic. During this period, I think people know that others won't see your smile. So, they just stopped. I myself feel this and I still don't quite know how to smile. So, I think learning about how to smile is a good thing as it boosts your confidence. As I say everyday to myself, "A smile made is happiness earned!" So go out there and smile!

To stop people getting sick from the virus COVID 19 For my opinion I think I was very happy when I heard the news saying "mask wearing is now optional" because I was tired of following the rules of wearing masks I was very happy and I was. Finally free from wearing masks

Covid was a big big struggle for the whole world. I was very scared because I was only in primary 2 and I did not know what a virus was.The new changes like having to wear masks or only 2 people at a time was really difficult to follow but I did not lose my hope or my smile. My family was always supporting me and helping me every step of the way. That is why I did not lose my smile. Covid actually helped my family bond together because when I had HBL they had to work from home. At this point I am really grateful that Covid is practically over.No more masks and any number of people can come together to meet. All in all I would like to remind people that we have already come this far so we can go a bit more.

I, for one, think. that it will be a great challenge for people to smile again. Throughout the long years of the COVID-19 pandemic, people have been forced to wear masks. They could only remove their masks when they reach home. When they are outside, they could not get a chance to socialise with other people around them. They could not see each other's facial expressions. Since people wore masks almost all the time, people thought that they did not need to smile. I do not think that this is true. I believe that everyone has the ability to smile like I do. So, go out there and put a smile on your face!

I agree that Covid was a huge problem for us during the years 2020-2022.It is great that Japan is making the initiative to help people like me and you to learn how to smile again. I admit that when I had gotten Covid-19 ,I felt as if it was the end of the road for me.I like how in the article mentions that they want people to spend there time smiling for there physical and mental well being.
For some reason,I did not lose my ability to smile. My guess for this is because when I had Covid,my parents constantly did anything they could to keep my entertained. Some of which include buying me gifts and setting up tvs for me.
However, although these smile classes are useful,I find it a bit insulting that it is called’Smile education’ as it just seems wrong a bit.You are kind of deciding that when people are happy, they must only smile.I personally don’t always smile when I am happy.Sometimes my eyes go wide like this->😳or I make a face like this 😮😯.I guess what I’m trying to say is ,yes some people might need more help in order to smile again. However from a young age,we were able to smile without any help.So all it would take for these people to smile again is a couple of happy moments

I would take part in smile education. As smiling shows how you feel. It also makes us happy at the same time. Smiling is an activity when you make a happy face. For example, when you saw something from your album of pictures of yourself when you were little your face will tell you how you feel. Smiling is a memorable thing. Smile education classes make you joyful. When you are sad you might want to take the smile education after the covid 19. Family and friends can see your smile after taking these classes. You should never hide your smiles from anyone. Smiles are in your heart also happy times can be in your heart. Smiles can make you feel free and happy

Honestly, since young, I did not know how to smile without showing my teeth. During the photo taking for the identity card, I did not know how to smile so I only could look blank. When I look at the card, I laughed at the ridiculous face staring at me. During the pandemic, we could show our expression through our eyes and eyebrows, so whenever we smile, we could see our eyes flattening and hence, no one knew that I did not know how to smile without showing my teeth.
I think such classes on "Smile Education" would be useful and important to me as I know now, mask wearing is optional and most people would want to take off their masks. During photo taking, the photographers tell us to smile without showing our teeth. I know this was embarrassing as I think I was the only one that did not know how to do that. So, I only could try to smile. I think "Smile Education" is important because people like me can learn how to smile so we do not need to show a blank face or angry face during the next photo taking.
